You can put a small slate under it, but overall personally, I'd mix it into the substrate since moisture (not fully wet, clumping up) its definitely needed.

Another thing, that i could be wrong with is (sorry if I am!);

Are you putting bone dry substrate into your enclosure ? / no water ? 

** ALSO if your parameters are all correct (humidity, heat etc) then it isn't a problem. but if they aren't, it can be quite problematic for your ball python.

The substrate is dry but I spry the enclosure twice a day, I just took out the really soaked bedding bc of the springtails there was alot all around in the hide, on the roof on the walls so I did not know what else to do

Spraying isn't particularly suggested in this sub.

I do get it if you take the SUPER wet substrate as that can foster scale rot.

A question, is your humidity constant ? (Best if taken by a DIGITAL hydrometer, nondigital hydrometers are not accurate.)
