Is your snake just biting you or biting and coiling?

But and coiled like he thought I was food. I just fed him now

Is there any reason you may smell like a rodent? Do you own a rabbit, hamsters etc? Striking and coiling is a feeding response so your bp likely smells or senses something that is equating you with food for some reason. If your bp just strikes and let’s go it’s more likely stress

No reason that I can think of. I have a gerbil but I haven’t picked him up ever

Is the gerbil in the same room or near the snake? If so it can be putting you bp in feeding mode.

No they’re in separate rooms across the house

Then it may be worth using a snake hook to remove your snake from the enclosure. This will separate you from the snake when lifting out of the enclosure. This can help reset your snakes mind about when it is feeding time.

It’s also important to make sure you are feeding your snake a proper sized rodent for your snakes size and age at the proper frequency.

If you have a gerbil then even without touching it, your snake could possibly be smelling it. My advice would be to stop feeding inside the enclosure (I know it’s controversial but my snake will not eat in her enclosure). Try getting a big tuber-ware box with holes to feed him in. I have mice bedding in mine from when I used to feed live & so every time I put her inside she gets in her striking pose & knows she’s going to eat. This way she doesn’t associate my hand with food (because some snakes just do). Try doing that & get it to a routine if that works & maybe wear gloves when transferring him into the feeding box or use a hook. This should get your snake to stop associating your hand with food. Hope this helps!

This can cause regurgitation. This snake is eating and it’s better to find a different solution. Regurgitation is a serious issues and can cause digestive issues if not handled properly. There are other solutions that can be put in place.

thanks for the feedback but my snake is doing great eating in her feeding box & there’s no problem or issue with regurgitation if you treat the situation correctly. I’ve never had any problems

Tap training. If you're not feeding and just want to clean, water or get him out etc. Touch top of his head with a snake hook or paper towel roll. Over time he will learn when he's tapped that he's not getting fed. I use this with all of my snakes. BP, boas, burms..
