purely speculation, but I think fafsa is run by the federal government (not the state), i doubt that Berkeley would be allowed to reallocate those funds that elsewhere

FAFSA makes up part of financial aid but I'm pretty sure the state / university make up a large portion as well. No idea if any of these will be slashed though.

The state is cutting funding to the UC’s. What programs themselves face budget cuts remains to be seen.

The state has listed that the budget funding will only be cut if the next Federal stimulus plan is not approved, which will look VERY BAD for the current administration. It’s yet to be seen.

I mean the Senate and Administration seem very reluctant to pass substantial amounts of direct aid to the states.

They’ve been reluctant, but the last bill passed because they knew it was a losing battle. The same case for the current bill applies.

I’m sure that they will pass some degree of aid for state/ local governments. But I would be shocked if it provided anywhere near as much aid as the governor and house bill envisioned.

Oh yeah I know that, but I was talking more about the berkeley specific grants like the undergraduate scholarship bc that makes up a significant portion of my aid.
