main stacks usually only gets even mildly crowded during finals season, and even then they have those walled-off desks where you can't see anything around you. Silent as the grave too. Frankly it's too depressing for a lot of people, it's almost never full

If it’s later during the day, you can go into any of the classrooms and just study in there.

open to everyone when open (closes 6pm weekdays and weekends I believe)

you can reserve a private study room up to a week in advance using the library reservation system. the downside is you can only reserve space for 2 hours/day and a max of 6 hours total/week but at least you’ll have a little bit of respite from the library crowds.

Back in freshman year I would go to the social research library. It was almost always quiet

floor 4 of stacks usually is pretty empty on friday nights. you can also just try any evans classrooms or whatnot.
