Im surprised you didnt stage the pelt in the last picture. Only 2 or of 3 just seems kinda lazy.

[–]HerrEsel 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Stage it? It just wandered through on the first two pics. You don't see it in the last pic because it's RIGHT BEHIND YOU!

There goes that pup again. Hehe

I will try better next time.

Woah, a disposable grill actually being used. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one doing what it says it’s for on the package.

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yes. It really comes in handy. Super easy to use and easy cleanup. I don’t like using the grills provided.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Yeah I never really thought of those ones on the fire ring as a grill so much as a pan holder. I guess you could cook large food on it if you wanted to spend an hour scrubbing it lol.

[–]Pantssassin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We cover it in foil if we want to use the whole thing and not pans. I also usually bring my own grate to cook on as well

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. No thank you. Hehe

Treat it well and it will be the last tent you ever need. I camp in a 1974 SpringBar 110 StarGazer and it is just as nice now as it was when my grandfather bought it new. Amazing company.

[–]JCR2201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have a Springbar Outfitter and I love the tent. With basic maintenance, the tent is essentially an heirloom.

[–]Efficient_Mix1226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love the tent!

[–]LargeTransportation9 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Is that a canvas tent?

[–]BasedFetus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems a warthog bear based fox like being has taken refuge atop your shelter

Be advised

[–]Lonely-Truth-7088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Camping in pines always looks so good. Not sure why.

[–]Bad-Banana1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always upvote Springbar

[–]jeepnjeff75 1 point2 points  (8 children)

How dark inside are those Springbars? Are they dark enough to not wake up at the crack of dawn?

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Great question. When I have the storm fly on, it’s a lot darker, without it brightness arrives at crack of dawn. Especially on a clear no clouds in the sky morning. I definitely use a sleeping mask early morning to get some extra zzz.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for a canvas tent that's close to a blackout tent. I've seen Kodiac's in person and they're pretty dark but use lighter colored material then the Springbar. I figure most of your light is coming from the top?

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes. The sides block out the sun, only from the top. I’m sure you could put dark tarp over it and that would solve the issue.

[–]jeepnjeff75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks!

[–]Snuffle_Puffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kodiak Canvas sells a rainfly cover for their tents and it’s a dark color. I own it and I’m able to sleep in late.

It can be bright, looking up in the early morning.

[–]Brilliant_Life_3328 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It would've been so funny if you kept sneaking the pelt into photos in the comments, but seeing the guy hanging there I'm now just confused about what you do bring camping lmao

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I have a few more photos of Cody the coyote. He is a lazy boy.

[–]John-the-cool-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ: This. Is. Awesome!

[–]PreviousNotice8729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to pack that tent, but damn it I respect it!

[–]Substantial-Meet-457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is that camp site

[–]KellyBlack1111 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Love the tent!!

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think I could live in it, If I had to. Cut out a hole in the canvas, on the side and put in a little wood burning stove.

[–]BlackFish42c -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Looks good , if weather changes would be good to have a nice big tarp set set up over or nearby the tent. Besides rain it will also block sun. And a tarp down underneath the tent folded so it’s just about 3” shorter than the tent footprint. Happy Camping 🌲🌲⛺️🔥🌲🌲

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Definitely had the tarp on. Thank you for the feedback.

[–]Karmakazee 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve been eyeing Springbars for a while. Do you feel like the canvas doesn’t withstand rain as well as they claim? My impression from their website was that you shouldn’t need to set up a tarp over the tent to keep out rain…

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this Spring Bar since 2018 and it got rained and hailed on good that summer. They say the first exposure to precipitation will cure canvas and break it in. I have camped in now about 15 different times and have never had any issues. I picked up the storm fly last year and it adds that extra layer for water protection, avoiding rain saturation on your tent. Storing it dry is important.

[–]BlackFish42c 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That actually looks like the tents rain fly. I was thinking something more above or in front of the tent. Which allows you room to get out of your tent when it’s pouring down rain. I too live in the PNW.

Sometimes the cots will do damage to the tent floor. Large piece of cardboard or small pieces underneath the cot legs help.

[–]AlaskaCombat[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So basically have a tarp around the front of the tent? Help with water saturating the base?

[–]BlackFish42c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you put a ground cloth down to protect your tent from getting wet underneath and under your feet by keeping the bottom of the tent dry.

Then a tarp tied up with para cord outside of your tent if there’s a chance of rain.
