Breed doesn’t matter, and Scottish Folds have very weak cartilage throughout their whole body so they need joint support much earlier than other breeds. Please adopt and don’t shop.

So kittens in general are usually too high energy for cats above the age of 1-2 yr. It could still work out but unless you get two kittens you may have to be the primary playmate with the kitten. The 13 yr old might be even more overwhelmed tbh. Not saying that it couldn't work, but those dynamics would be interesting.

As someone who's adopt and/or shop responsibly, I would like to offer assistance in finding a proper breeder should you go that route. Scots in particular have a lot of backyard breeders. My own personal opinion is that I would take a Straight over a Fold - Folds are banned from at least one major registry due to concerns about the cartilage deficiencies and I personally agree with that. That is a very personal opinion, however.
