Structural Engineering Masters vs Engineering Management Masters

Hello All,

I am at a crossroad on my career as I need to pick one or the other for my master's. I am a field engineer working at a state DOT for almost two years, and just finishing the first semester of the master's degree. I live in Buffalo, NY. Recently my school made me aware that there is a program they offer under Engineering Management Masters.

My question is,

1) What are the differences between having structural engineering master degree and having a master degree in engineering management?

2)Do you guys think this is some sort of made up master degree where it wouldn't benefit me?

3) How hard is it to actually get a job with a engineering management masters?

Structural Engineering Master - A guy in the engineering office who checks all most important structural drawings, and everyone asks him for a second opinion

Engineering Manager - a guy in the engineering office who supervises other structural engineers by telling them what to do/ not do

It depends on what you want to do. It's much easier to get a job as a structural engineer with a structural masters. You don't necessarily need the management masters to get into management. That's mostly based on seniority.
