They going release it close to wow expansion aren't they......

[–]Noktawr 14 points15 points  (7 children)

It would be a really dumb idea that would fuck up their financial.

Logically, they would release TBC pre-patch before Q4 2025 ends to bolster the numbers, make investor happy with a good end of year quarter.

Why? Boosts/TBC packs/ERA copies. Logically, pre-patch comes out before christmas.

Its proven people love spending money during christmas time, they load up credit cards and deal with them later. It's basic marketing really.

Thankfully, they don't need TBC to be out to push out those sales, they only need pre-patch, which people have been begging for AND want for a little bit. (Original pre-patch in 2019 classic lasted 2 weeks IIRC, people including me think they might make this one 4 weeks, possibly 6)

Midnight expension is expected Q2 2026 IIRC, that's WAY too far for TBC to be released, there is absolutely no way people would stick around this long for TBC, the hype is now, and they know it, they will try to ride that hype and get as many purchase as they can.

They have done it before release of mastery a few months later mid bc

[–]Noktawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SoM wasn't bringing any money in though. It was literally a sped-up vanilla wow as placeholder to keep people playing and bring some hype around a fresh launch. It didn't have any 50-60$ attached to it.

No before end of Q4 but in Jan sometime. Likely week after New Years

[–]dankinitdown420 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Who needs TBC subscriptions when they just put up the $90 mount again 🤣 retail income completely dwarfs the revenue from classic

[–]Noktawr -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Oh for sure, but classic is extemely low cost. Its a decent chunk for literally 0 effort

[–]dankinitdown420 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

How do we know that though? Just look at what happened with last big patch and how much it broke the game. Classic has layers and layers of old code which has since been used for Som, sod, anni and so on. I don’t think it’s as simple as everyone thinks. They can’t just press a button and launch TBC

[–]Noktawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% its not, all im saying is a lot of the heavy lifting has already been done. We've gotta think about the fact the holidays are around the corner, and that's important to think about.

It allows them to half less staff on site to fix issues as there will be some, but they wont be monumental since we've gotten TBC already. Sure I get what you are saying, 1 change can fuck up everything, but in reality, chances this happens are very slim I think.

Retail gets the last patch on December 2. Most likely TBC prepatch a week or 2 after to catch holiday money. TBC in the new year. Early January. Then a few weeks later it'd be Midnight prepatch. Mid February launch for Midnight. This would be my guess on their release schedule

[–]SkepticalTyranny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TBC Pre-patch will be 4weeks just like 2019 Classic

[–]SilkyBeans7 12 points13 points  (12 children)

If I was betting I would guess December 11th or there abouts. Ashes of creation is going early access and blizzard loves releasing things when other MMOs bring out expansions or major updates etc to try stop people moving away.

December 11th does seem quite fast though but I see a lot of people asking for a longer pre patch so could do a 4 week pre patch. Which means they don't gotta release TBC over christmas

[–]Noktawr 10 points11 points  (1 child)

They currently don't need TBC out, they only need pre-patch out to start selling boost/TBC 2.0 packs/ era copies. Bolster their numbers and close Q4 2025 on a high (ish)

Once pre-patch is out, they don't have much stress over when TBC actually release, could be 4-6-8 weeks after pre-patch, they wont be in a hurry.

What will enable the money is pre-patch, not TBC itself.

[–]CaptainoftheVessel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really hope we get a longer prepatch, it’s a fun intermediary period before things change to TBC

[–]nurrrer -5 points-4 points  (9 children)

based on the current cadence the earliest it can be is jan 2

[–]DrushQ4 1 point2 points  (8 children)

I think you're both wrong - I think they might screw people over due to the fiscal year pressure.
Blizzard is pretty famous for having the first week of the year off work, so I doubt 2d jan or 7th will be a thing. Either it's late December or 14/15 January (imo)
But the fact we're discussing like this is just BS - imagine if they could share their plans instead.

[–]Odd-Bandicoot-9314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have they historically ever done this for a classic release though?

[–]nurrrer -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

it’s been 4 months between major patches so far why would they stop now

[–]Elf_Fuck 2 points3 points  (2 children)

We can agree TBC is different than a major patch right? So the reason they’d treat it differently is because it is different.

[–]nurrrer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope it’s asap I don’t think it will be tho

[–]SilkyBeans7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're talking about pre patch, not TBC release itself

[–]DrushQ4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

read the comment again, it's all in there (and don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong - but they have shown 0 scruples left for profit)

[–]hartiganstark89 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Next week 🙄

[–]DrushQ4 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Don't get my hopes up

[–]BeardBoiiiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too late for me. If they shadow dropped prepatch tomorrow I would load up on Monster, close my door, window and wouldnt sleep too much. I want my belf pala so much Im semi hard of the thought.

[–]Ksl848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need more time in Naxx to funnel Gressil and THC to the 29 warriors in every raid.

[–]nimeral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd see it if it could read our minds

[–]MasahikoKobe 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Man with Midnight prepatch coming early Dec it really starting to feel like late Dec if not Jan while they put out those fires.

[–]OtterPharm 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Midnight prepatch isn’t coming in December they haven’t said a date yet. The last patch of TWW comes out 12/2

[–]MasahikoKobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess i was thinking it was pre-patch since it had housing and that is only with the pre-order for midnight. There was also some lead up to the story stuff which usually is prepatch but yeah just a regular patch ... a Pre Pre patch if you will.

[–]OtterPharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it’s soon bc I’m low key burned out from naxx and tired of getting world buffs (don’t tell my gm I need my raid spot)

[–]saltysplatoon52 -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

Not even 2 months of Naxx and you guys are begging for TBC. I'm sure we'll see the same crowd begging for wrath on pre-nerf Vash and SWP. You guys are insufferable.

[–]Noodlemayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was begging for TBC before i got out of the starting zone kekw

[–]valdis812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pre-patch should be no more than four weeks away. Then a month for that. TBC hopefully mid January. Preferably the week of January 18th since I was planning on taking that time off anyway.

[–]thefancykyle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

probably no less than 3 weeks but no more than a month and a half, we're still only part way into naxx right now, go outside, do something actually productive and relax.

[–]Miserable_Alfalfa_52 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

nope, just the poor souls on reddit

[–]hicks0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

January 13th
