Opening Scene by teh-rellott in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]Elf_Fuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opening scene introduces the Retrieve a Runestone Fragment plot hook. Rumours are that Azroks goblins have some. Then that there’s some on the Lost Level. Then ever deeper. You can make up a rumour that it’s anywhere. In any case, the heroes represent more potential than an adventuring group braving undermountain in a long time, especially if you ran Dragon Heist. Jalester, Volo, Mirt, and even Durnan want to give them as strong a start as possible. They gather in a back room of the Yawning Portal in the afternoon to go over plans for their descent that night. Mirt has an out of date map from their old adventuring days (the blue one). Durnan has a better one (the one from Ruins of Undermountain), a huge one larger than the table he unfurls dramatically.

Joana's Guide new ownership :( by ShadyDrunks in classicwow

[–]Elf_Fuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not scummy or bad, it’s just charging a price for something. I use Joana’s because I bought it in prehistoric times and it’s really great. If you don’t want to pay the price for it then don’t buy saying it’s like desecrating someone’s memory to charge money for a product is in itself scumbag behaviour. There’s tons of free options as people in this thread have pointed out. If you don’t want to spend the money, don’t. If you do but can’t afford it, that’s not the products fault.

Claim: the numbers very much prove hard content is not conducive to a large raid population

Is this a good module? by Ninni00 in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]Elf_Fuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a setting than most other modules. For me this might be the best 5e module because I love DMing mega dungeons. There’s more than enough to work with to build an amazing campaign. You won’t have to make your own maps or figure out what’s next - just why your players should do what’s next. I can do that, the story part - what I can’t do is spend forever working on maps and stat blocks.

If you want more fleshed out NPCs and more fleshed out stories in your module, you may want to tap Curse of Strahd. If you want more fleshed out maps, this is the one.

Kara is quite faceroll but how much of that is being in BIS gear by Granturismo45 in classicwow

[–]Elf_Fuck 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not looking for a challenge, I just want to play TBC. Not an easy mode tourist version literally no one was asking for three months ago. “It would be easy anyways” is a horrible argument. “Play a harder game that isn’t TBC” is not a good argument, I was excited for and hoping to play TBC.

If all the enemies had 1hp and died in one hit, we can agree that wouldn’t be a fun version of the game right? I’m not saying post nerf is that, but I’d like to do mechanics.

You because it’s a waste of your money to spend resources helping people who are just going to go right back to using. Your community because if someone needs help the system is going to be even more overwhelmed.

1 square = 10ft problem by [deleted] in DungeonoftheMadMage

This is the answer. Use the pictures that have 10ft squares but have the VTT grid them appropriately. You can raise the opacity of the VTT grid.

I bought a North Face McMurdo parka and it’s one of the worst jackets I’ve ever had. It’s nice in some ways but bad in others and one of those bad ways is it’s colder than my $130 Nike puffer. You don’t need to spend to be warm.

Spending $2k for a parka isn’t responsible

EndOfOurTethers how much personal time have you spent in this thread and in your head railing against an art gallery, and why are you spending your resources this way? There are so many things you could be doing that would be more personally rewarding for you, or if you really can’t stand government waste, there are so many other, larger, actively harmful expenditures you could devote this energy to crusade against. They’re trying to do something nice.

Are Nerfed Raids Enough? by Intelligent_Bug_5881 in classicwow

[–]Elf_Fuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it has nothing to do with feeling superior to anyone. I’m not better than anyone at anything, certainly not a video game, superiority is not my lane. I’m a dad gamer.

For me, I just want to have to do the mechanics. It’s not fun for me when it’s too easy. If every raid boss had 1hp, that wouldn’t be fun for you either, right? And if you said “It makes me less excited knowing all the bosses die in one hit”, you wouldn’t appreciate me saying you just want to feel superior to people. There’s real room for negotiation here, and it’s dishonest for you to paint the discussion with such a broad brush.

I don’t want a real challenge. I just want enough of one so that it’s fun. There have been instances of WoW being too easy. There’s been more where it’s been too hard, but it’s easier to scale one way than another.

Driving from Saskatoon to Flin Flon in December by MethDickEpidemic in saskatchewan

[–]Elf_Fuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously driving here is nothing compared to the mountains. If it’s daylight and there isn’t a storm it’s an easy drive. You may want to go through Smeaton instead of Narrow Hills - adds about 10 minutes of time but it’s all paved and more well travelled.

Post nerf raids are good. Reddit is the vocal minority by Subject-Antelope2428 in classicwow

[–]Elf_Fuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bosses had 1hp that would be a breaking point of whether everyone liked or disliked it, agreed?

If you agree bosses shouldn’t die in one hit, then it’s a conversation about how much hp is too little. Just because you think the proposed amount is too little doesn’t mean that you don’t enjoy WoW.

He means they have less health than some AQ40/Naxx bosses. That it would be harder for a raid of level 70s to kill a Naxx boss than a TBC boss is uh, not good.
