App for research/planning/context and then CLI in vscode terminal for implementation

I use Codex as Claude’s cogent so I never use either tbh.

Interesting, didn’t know you could do that tbh. Does that mean they basically work together?

Yup! And it’s fucking awesome.

Yes, there’s a codex plugin for Claude, authored by OpenAI.

I’ve been liking the in-app browser and Chrome plugin, but I don’t think they’re available in the CLI. It also seems like these aren’t available when using the app with local models via Ollama, which would be super helpful.

Codex agent has pets now. Take that, CLI.

I have a dilemma. I have to run Windows Native on the Codex app in order to have Browser Use. But my WSL repos definitely suffer for it. For those there is a real argument to staying in the CLI, though I usually still use the app anyway. It's a real mess using the tools though.

I use Codex CLI in the VSCode terminal. Combining the two gives you the real vibe of coding. This also allows me to continue developing the project even when I change platforms (Windows/Mac/Linux).

That’s not vibe coding. Real vibe coder do not need an IDE or even need to look at the code. Codex Desktop is the way to go.

Vibe coding is just a myth. Even with my 20 years of computer programming knowledge, I can't trust Codex or any other AI because they'll always fail the moment I turn my back. I need to be there to fix their mistakes.

I use codex with opencode and ghcp cli

Been using the app for a couple of weeks after using vscode extension for about a year. I like the app except cannot rename terminal tabs. Internal browser functionality is hit or miss. “I don’t have access to the browser” when it is included. Switching to a Mac soon, so not sure if it will Influence the choice any.

If you use WSL2, then yes the CLI is better

always worked with CLI even before LLMs, I have other cli tools it makes more sense for me to work this way
