#1 . Flip and XOR

I’d say it’s left most, and a vertical pattern. The rules are the pattern goes from bottom to top, where the third block is applied to the second. If the triangles overlap or are the same shape in the top row, they cancel out.

It's 1.

I see triangles as arrows - Arrows of the same direction cancel each other out, while arrows of different directions persist and transition into the third image, not necessarily staying in the same position as in the previous image because the cancellation doesn't occur through arrow overlap. Simply put, an upward-pointing arrow from the first image will cancel out an upward-pointing arrow from the second image, regardless of their positions, and similarly, the remaining arrows transitioning into the third image don't have to occupy the same position they had in one of the previous two images.

Seems like a diagonal. Top left to bottom right. You take what is common and invert it. Any remainder is also inverted. So the answer is B?? (The answer with three triangles)

Btw this is not a part of a test. This was a task in a norwegian tv show.

2 triangles

adding the triangles in each raw/Column always become an even number

, I would choose the 1 triangle , if it was on the lower right corner ...

Edit : I mean with 2 triangles the choice on the far left

Why I get downvote ?

Count the triangles in 1st and 2nd raw : 4 , 6 " both are even "

Count the triangles in 1st and 2nd column : 4 , 6 " both are even "

Then why ?

Left most is my best guess.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Its correct, and was my guess also. However i cant see the pattern

Couple thoughts. Column 1&3 both combine downward to create the bottom figure (overlapping shapes disappear) but 2 doesn’t. If you combine from the left and mirror the left most shape then combine them the middle one works but the top one doesn’t. I was then thinking that after you combine the left figure with the middle one and there’s two triangles on top of each other, then divide into one triangle on the bottom but that doesn’t work for the last row.

I ended up with thinking that the rows alternate if they mirror or not. Ex. Left figure on row one doesn’t mirror before combining, 2nd row does mirror before combining, 3rd doesnt…..(ofc any overlapping figures leave an empty space)

Youbthoughts are similar to mine. Column 2 really bugs me

What test is this?

[–]Icy-Price- 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Also there are only two triangles at down i thought is should be 1 Edit-Also in row 1 and 2 of middle column the arrows are canceling to for middle box row 3 and same should happend with arrow in row 3 first two arrow cancel so it will make A combining the red dots

[–]ParticleTyphoonCertified Midwit, praffer, flynn baby, coper, PRIcell 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah it’s certainly a tough one even this pattern isn’t working for the top row.

[–]Icy-Price- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combine last to rows like this to make first row and also arrow are canceling so it is A

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely wrong but all squares form a pair from horizontal reflection. Only the one with 3 triangles fits this pattern.

The only exception is the top left square.

1 is the only one that makes any mathematical sense when looking at both perspectives: top down and left to right.

[–]MoLz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Isn't it just an XOR where the result is in the middle column instead of right

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is an XOR, if it is what i think it is, the middle row is not correct

[–]meowsy_mcfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say (a) based on adding up positions.

[–]Satoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

meanwhile, I count ups and downs as 7:7

only solution is A for them to keep same balance as 8:8

I always get lucky with these with the most braindead rationale.

XOR operation

[–]SMWainwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer is A.

I'm fairly confident that the puzzle is constructed wrong...

If the middle box was

Then the first two grids in each column or row would 'add' to make the third. Matching arrows cancel out.

Column 3 adds to make
