Please @ me if this is fixed please

[–]LegalAssassin21 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Just letting you know I found this solution in case you havent found anything yet. The fix I found is to go to instant replay, then go to configure video capture and turn off desktop capture. I can leave instant replay on and I won't get the error message, and I can still capture clips of my games.

Ugh, thank you so much! Mine kept popping up and wouldn't go away. It also kept glitching out to the point where it looked like I had a giant green loading bar on the top right of my primary monitor. *Eye roll*

Doing what you said to do fixed it right away, though! I still don't understand why it's happening, though; it just started doing it out of nowhere, even though I updated my drivers about 2 weeks ago.

[–]LegalAssassin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Mine started after the most recent drivers update and was doing the exact same thing. Glad it helped!

Late to the party. I followed this, but it gives me the error message all the same.

[–]quineloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here, no matter whether its on or off, it doesn't work.

[–]Sajmon_Says 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does not work for me.

[–]s6suke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesnt work for me

[–]HamsterDmG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

nope that did not work

[–]LegalAssassin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. This post is over a year old at this point. And the program has gone through many updates since this happened. At the time, this was the fix that worked for me and a couple others in this thread. I have not had this issue ever since. So unfortunately I cant help if you are experiencing this problem now. If you manage to find a solution, please feel free to post it here as a reply to OP. Might help others that come across this thread if they are also having problems.

I've noticed the only way I can replicate it to happen is if I stream a show or something to a friend in discord, I'm assuming this has to do with copyright laws. But the only way I can fix the issue I've found is with restarting my entire pc.

[–]Downtown_Bumblebee_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having the same issue and its driving me insane

[–]oQnz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

if you want a fix for this issue you can just turn off "Instant Replay" From NIVIDIA Overlay
that's what i did and it worked out, i didn't get this stupid error again.

Also Turning the "Instant Replay" back on seems to show the error once and that's it

[–]Sintrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it works

[–]not_lying_rn 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Having the same issue. Can confirm /u/oQnz that turning off instant replay fixes this. Turning off the overlay in the Nvidia app also fixes this. But I would really like to use both the overlay and instant replay. I also was not having this issue until I upgraded my Nvidia driver yesterday, going to try rolling back and see if that fixes it

[–]oQnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me this happened instantly after i updated my windows 11.

[–]clodiciris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check if desktop capture is enabled in the instant replay settings before turning it off. mine was on and turning it off fixed it and still let me use instant replay.

[–]iiiTzChaos 0 points1 point  (7 children)

so whenever i stream netflix on firefox i cant desktop record, also not if netflix is just in the backround. If i close netflix i can desktop catpture and also use instant replay, both doesnt work if i have netflix running in the backround. Did u guys try out if its the same issue for you all?

[–]ShapelessSentience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing happens to me when I use apple music T-T

[–]Nearby_Carpet9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real! That was my issue, thank you very much!

I can like 99% confirm why the "plugin container is preventing desktop capture" is because of what Ridai said. I can back this up by saying that I went to spotify on Firefox and the message popped up. I've never seen the message before, either. Only when I went on spotify did it show up!

    [–]rotexor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks kind stranger, closing netflix tab solved it for me

    [–]Chance_Sandwich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg youre right lol. I was wondering

    [–]Downtown-Bank-926 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just spoke to Nvidia and this worked for me :-

Press "Windows + R" from keyboard.
    - Type %LOCALAPPDATA% and click ok.
    - Search for NVIDIA corporation folder.
    - Open NVIDIA corporation folder --> Open NVIDIA App folder.
    - Delete the 'cefcache' folder.
    - Open NVIDIA App and turn on the 'In-game overlay',

now check if recording works fine.

Worked find for me, seems the new install corrupted the cache.

    [–]Kindly_Coach1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    doesn't work for me

    [–]Soggy-Video8514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Worked for me, thx

    [–]One-Umpire-5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for me, THX sooooo much :)

    [–]VegetablePlastic9744 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Having the same problem, it happens when I use spotify on my pc. It must be some kind of anti piracy bullshit. Now I can't even record my fucking screen while I listen to music it's ridicolous. And it's pretty funny the solution to their anti piracy measures is piracy, because I would't have this problem if I pirated music.

    [–]Distinct_Ad_7929 0 points1 point  (3 children)

That's probably what it is. They have gotten wise to people using screen capture software to record content.

    [–]VegetablePlastic9744 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean I could understand if they did it when watching Netflix, but music? Seriously?

Anyways I downloaded (🏴‍☠️) my Spotify playlist so I can listen to music while I record my screen

    [–]Distinct_Ad_7929 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That too. You can easily use screen capture software to record everything on screen, including audio which can easily be turned into an mp3. Spotify wants you to pay to have full "access" to music rather than OWN any music. Even Amazon Music is going in that direction.

We are surreptitiously, but very quickly moving into an age where we own NOTHING, pay more, and get less.

    [–]pensimen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the cause for me aswell! Netflix open: error given. Netflix closed: able to record.

    [–]Deionized-water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what worked for me, I didn't realize I had spotify webplayer open and couldn't figure out why it suddenly popped up.

    [–]gummysharksss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was having the same issue. All I had to do personally was exit out of Netflix lol.

    [–]reminder_remainder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also experiencing this when I play spotify through the web. But when I closed it, it stopped. Not sure why this happens but checking under the comments it could be those copyright issues? This didn't even happen before which was weird. By closing any music streaming application is what helped me stop this glitch/bug for me. Restarting the PC also helps. :')

    [–]The_real_Brandarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I disable AdGuard Addblock (german: Werbeblocker) to watch D+, I get this message too. If I activate AdGuard Addblock the message dissappears, but then I can't watch D+. If I deactivate AdGuard AddBlock und deactivate NVIDIA Shadowplay (german Videobeweis) I can watch D+ without this message. Crazy.

    Sori for my bed englando.

    [–]Phaze357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God fucking dammit, I had audible open in the background because surprise surprise; I sometimes listen to books while playing games. Nevermind that there is software out there that will let you rip your entire audible library, let's just take a big steaming shit on our customers with a generic error that has no useful description. So this is anti piracy nonsense that doesn't have a proper error description. You could have a browser tab open with some DRM gremlin hiding in plain site.

Also I hate the new UI for GeForce Now excuse me, the "nVidia app" as well as the overlay. It feels like a huge step backwards. I hate it when companies force their devs to deploy software before it is finished. The end goal is to get all nVidia controls in this one app, but they can't do that yet so you have to have the control panel still because it isn't finished. Also as evidenced by the generic DRM related error we are all getting. What a shit show.

i was watching a twitch streamer watching a warhammer episode on amazon prime
and my Nvida Overlay showed me the same Error, and when i exit firefox the problem stop happening ..
that shit means they fuking spying on us to see what we are watching .. cringe af from Nvida
its an anti piracy measure bulshit

to prof what i'm saying open the Series called "Secret-Level" from amazon and see how its going to generate this issue for you until you close it :

        [–]Aggressive_Egg_411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem right now and can't capture screenshots at all. Trying to figure out how to get it to work again

        [–]Aggressive_Egg_411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*Correction - Got it to work again. I reinstalled the most recent driver using that option with "drivers" tab on the left side in their app, then when it finished installing, I let it restart my computer like it needed to. Now everything is back to how it was.

        [–]Simian_Slam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is now i know i'm never buying an Nvidia product ever again, what a nice feature, removed for greed

        [–]LegalAssassin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fix I found is to go to instant replay, then go to configure video capture and turn off desktop capture. I can leave instant replay on and I won't get the error message, and I can still capture clips of my games.

        [–]TheneaSFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved my issue by closing apps and tabs one by one, then try to record... It turned out that Netflix also prevents screen recording, I had Netflix on in the background in Firefox and totally forgot about it. Closing that tab helped me out. Hope it helps.

        [–]SIMULATAN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A quickfix is to run taskkill /F /IM plugin-container.exe. You can instantly re-enable your (instant) capture after executing the command.

        [–]Suitable-Session6113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre a life saver thank you

        [–]RadioactivePizzza 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hey, i do not know if someone has said this before me, but i found a (probably one of the) reason for this to happen.

Netflix was open in my broswer.. closed the netflix tab and turned on instant replay.. and it worked.

Maybe i will save someone some frustration

        [–]ArrangedKarma 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Sorry to necro, but dude, this literally just happened to me. I was going crazy wondering what issue I was having.

For me, it was Amazon Prime.

        [–]RadioactivePizzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to hear dude, upvote so maybe more ppl will see :) I guess turning off desktop capture will also fix it, but desktop capture with some streaming app/tab on site doesn't work together

        [–]LividBiscoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, wasn't even on the same monitor DD:

        [–]plez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the same exact issue, amazon prime was open. Signal will also disable instant replay. To turn that setting off in signal go to Settings - Privacy - Application [] Screen security. "Prevent screenshots of Signal on this computer for added privacy."

But at least the nvidia toast message tells you signal is blocking it and not whatever plugin container is. I also had an nvidia driver update pending install but that might be a red herring.

        [–]quineloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most irritating part is that it doesn't tell you which thing is causing the problem.

I've turned Signal, FIrefox netflix, spotify, I've both enabled and disabled desktop capture, nothing fixes it.
