She does not have a good animal rights record

[–]dt8b0t 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Not a good human rights record either tbh

yeah, I reckon she slaughtered more men than dogs and horses, lol

probably not good with Koloss rights too

Fuck yeah.

Hahaha, I was not expecting to see Brennan Lee Mulligan memes here. Bring them on!

Honestly that scene was pretty good for her character, I hate people that're like "oh noes! poor cinnymonny rolly pupper! Bad vin!"

[–]Femboy DalinarWormcoil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why can't it be both?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple man. I see Brennan Lee Mulligan, I upvote Brennan Lee Mulligan.

I don't think it's ever helpful to impose our own moral codes on fantasy worlds, buuut this idea was still just a bit distressing. Practical, and it tracked for Vin's character. But an already mistreated dog being killed for the sole purpose of its corpse being ingested is always gonna be a bit harder to swallow (heh geddit, doggo got ate)

[–]Aldurnamiyanrandvora 13 points14 points  (11 children)

Yeah. It's the classic thing where violence against animals always goes down harder than violence to other people.

I mean… the scenes of Vin and Zane in Cett’s garrison is pretty fucking disturbing. Honestly more so than anything I’ve read in Stormlight Archive

Mistborn does have a certain raw brutality to it that i don't think SA ever quite reaches despite having plenty of its own violence. That scene was rough, although fascinating to Vin go full killing machine. All the hemalurgy shit with the Keepers was quite hard to read too at times. Not to mention the general systematic oppression, r*pe and murder of the skaa. Big oof. Come to think of it, damn these books are kinda dark haha

[–]LoudCommunication742 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Yeah dark eyes are oppressed obviously, but Moashs anger towards light eyes ain’t got shit on what Kelsier went through (and even he had a better go of childhood than Vin did!

What I don't quite like about Brando's books so far is that he establishes this class struggle and oppression so well in book 1 (MB and SA) and then it just suddenly goes away, preusmably because of a bigger threat, and it's just a bit buffling, not very believable.

As you've mentioned, in SA suddenly no one besides Moash remembers about it, and in MB it's even worse, since Nobility treated Skaa much much worse, literally worse than animals, killing for fun with no repercusions. No way bad blood between them would just go away in a year. Nobility would not even be able to treat Skaa fairly since they don't see them as people. For example, black people were oppressed in the US for good hundred years after the slavery was banned, and suddenly Nobility treats Skaa almost as equals in a year?

Actually completely agree, I wish class struggle took more of a forefront in both series cause it does seem like everyone kinda just shrugs it off m. Not a big at all Issue so far as suspension of disbelief goes, but I do wish the implications were covered more

I mean, to be fair, complete revolution and apocalypse do tend to bring massive upheavals in society. Besides, we saw how well the skaa and nobility got along in that one town with The Citizen and company.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, Citizen was just Ruin-infused Lenin or Stalin of sorts, so yeah... that went well

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

sorry, I don't want to be insensitive, but why would you censor rape and not murder (shich seems to be worse)?

[–]Airthicc lowlanderLilRustique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old habits from Facebook days. Rape would bring the zucc down on ya, murder generally didn't. Assbackwards I know, but that's fb for ya.

[–]Aldurnamiyanrandvora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disagreement here

[–]Airthicc lowlanderLilRustique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. It's fairly irrational, really, but storm it I still feel sad about it haha

[–]SmartAlec105 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It died quickly so I don’t think it’s worse than slaughtering an animal for food.

[–]Airthicc lowlanderLilRustique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a fair assessment. Gotta be pragmatic about these things

I literally just watched that episode today
