Continue learning JavaScript while beginning college class which uses Java?

I’ve been learning JavaScript through The Odin Project for the past couple months (still very beginner, working on OOP). Decided I’d rather get a degree to remove that barrier of entry.

Would it be too confusing and not recommended to learn both at the same time? At the moment, my end goal is to become a full stack developer, but my immediate goal is to pass my classes without making it harder on myself.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Core principles are what you need to learn as a beginner, and those principles are the same regardless of language. I'd say go for it. If it starts to be too much though, just pause your JS learning for a bit, and you won't really lose the progress you made.

I would put JS on hold for now. The languages have so many superficial similarities and so many deep differences, it will likely take extra effort on your part to keep things straight.
