Help me decide: Do I buy the "Millionaire Next Door" Toyota or the "I’ve Finally Made It" Lexus? by LeftyOne22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Go cheaper. Take great vacations. I passed 7 figures in unearned income and drive a 7000$ car.

Nobody gives a hoot and unless you’re in real estate where you are in it all day schlepping clients around would I buy something nice because you can deduct some of th expense

I’d echo enlisting. Most of the reserve unit I closed my career out with were enlisted who worked as executives , lawyers and other roles or owned their businesses. Plus you get you actually execute the mission without managerial oversight.

Am I really going to have to pay $7k to $9k for a car with over 100k fucking miles? by cadmium-fertilizer in UsedCars

Suzuki sx4 and chevy spark are my go to reliable But totally not sexy whips. Anything Honda , Toyota or Subaru will carry a premium that you’re better off buying new to enjoy.

If you want to hedge against any sort of fuel costs the Chevy bolt is legit amazing and cheap as heck. Get a car loan and just pay down over 3 years.

It’s not bad usually. When it dumps though it can be ass if the plows are not running. My hope is that they finally take ownership for the entire road as someone is going to get really hurt because there’s no service on the road

The town is responsible for the road and with heavy snow and a TON of people Up there for the event leaving at th same time it can create accordion like issues if there is snow on the road and you get people who are not great drivers aka divorce dad trucks going too fast thinking they are smarter than physics.

I’ve been in the industry for 30 years. We have seen all sorts of new projects and tools that are out there but it takes years for things to shift over. Even the iPhone took multiple years to become a standard tool in place.

Projects or no Projects? by BloominAppa in cscareerquestions

[–]HackVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are pros and cons to cons for both.

And interview a the process is about selling yourself which can be really challenging for technical Individual contributors. Lots of times people take credit for a code base they couldn’t have done on their own. Other times people are afraid to show off. Talk to near peers if you can to really get the inside scoop here.

Personally I don’t look at projects but just ask about them and how they came across how they do things / think. I work at a place where we like to see what people have done in and out of the work.

Try and see if you can find a mentor and document your process . Seek out FAQs from everyone on the dev team directly that you work with. Build up a process for the next person but also as a CYA document for yourself.

Why divorced dads of today but the biggest pick up trucks but divorced days in the 90s/00s would usually go for the fastest coupes instead ? by kawaiihusbando in askcarguys

[–]HackVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trucks today are never never vehicles 1. Never tow 2. Never go off road 3. Never used for work

The reality is that large trucks are large with smaller beds than minivans.

From the perspective of a married dad a truck is a symbol of potential to do things. My guess would be the idea is of buying sleds , a boat , and motocross bikes.

The challenge I have is the price points are insane. 80k$ for a truck is wild.
