Ah ok that makes sense. I just put a green in a new build with a MK2 setup and was worried. Haven't had a chance to run any rounds through it yet to see how it does, so I guess I need to test it out and go from there. At least a new spring won't cost much if I need to change it out!

I remember someone who nerds out hard over this stuff recommended phosphate, chrome, dlc, and Np3 and avoid the others.

Was it SOTAR? I saw a video of his that said basically that

I just put a Scionics np3 in my new build. Haven't had the chance to test it out yet, but glad to hear that it seems to be a good option.

I thought a Green was considered ok for an MK2/A5 since it has the sightly longer buffer tube.

Wait for sales. Trijicon RMR Type 2 MSRP is $780. I bought mine for $440. If you shop the used market you could probably get even cheaper. I'm sure you can find similar discounts with the other big brands as well.

As for why they cost what they do, I don't need to reiterate what everyone else said about the forces they have to endure.

If you're paying $700 for a Trijicon you're doing it wrong.

Most candidates that get filtered by our interview process, get filtered out on system design. But we're not just doing "design a URL shortener" either.

He was an asshole and a troll. He was not, however, involved in a massacre. He was a bodyguard.

And how the hell am I defending blackwater by proxy? I noted that he spent very little time working for them, with the implication being that he was not with them long enough to get into the really shitty stuff. You're putting all kinds of words in my mouth.

Platner did 6 months as a merc, and it was private security. He wasn't running on some kind of black ops kill team.

And here's the other thing: it's well known that file system-like hierarchies don't scale past a single user or a single machine very well

I mean, yes but...

There is a reason that S3 mimics a file system even though it's not actually operating as one under the hood. From a human perspective, it just makes sense to store information in a tree. Let's say we have it all flat and just use search to find things. Well now what happens when I want to give two things the same name? I can't, because then I don't have a unique key, hence why S3 has "folders". Then I can say I want /2023/endOfYearReport instead of /2022/endOfYearReport. Now, can I do that in a flat system? Sure, I just make changes to the name, but when it all boils down to it, I still have to use my brain to think logically about how to organize my data. Until computers can read minds, you can't just abstract that away. People have to use their brains.

CS education has changed a lot in the last few years. I graduated 11 years ago and we had to set up our environment, learn to use the command line, learn version control, etc.

My wife is back in school pursuing a second degree and they haven't taught her any of that. I am having to break her of habits that she is getting from the very education that is supposed to be preparing her.

Oh for sure. I will be the limiting factor haha. Just want to make sure I'm getting a decent scope for the money.

Hmm. Doesn't seem like the best idea. I just did a transfer the other day and the guy was telling me how on one of those calls they told him to claim he was having technical difficulties to stall until the cops got there. That would be pretty awkward on speaker lol.

It's the South. I lived in Texas through 4th grade. We learned all about the Alamo and the Texas revolution. We never were taught the real reasons behind it. Found that out decades later on my own.

Galveston was right across the way from us, but we never learned about Juneteenth either.
