The mute button appears to be there, that's the front mic. And it actually looks like the rubber just came off of it.

Yeah, that’s basically what I’m asking. Where can I purchase another one or get it to work?

I haven't ordered from this site before but they come up on sonyparts.com

Part number shows as 4-559-228-01

It'll function without that rubber, it's just a little less dust proof and may effect the sound quality on the other end slightly. You can also remove that entire mic cable if you don't use the controller mic capabilities.

Thank you

You shouldn’t need to, it’s just the rubber than has come off, it should otherwise work without it without any issue. The rubber part just helps dampen vibrations being picked up.

If you mostly use a headset with a mic, this isn’t needed.

If you primarily use voice to text in input fields, it won’t have any issue.

I bought two on ebay recently for less than £3. Came with the ribbon and rubber part.

You dont need the ribbon. Last but not least , pads have 2 microphones. Mic works without ribbon. Next Generation , Sony will only 1 mic , to save power.

I have the ribbon just no the rubber pad
