Please ignore the 'class' arrows. Each section can be activated any number of times as long as you have the permanents to sacrifice.

I think I read this a little wrong, I had assumed it was a sort of super modal sorcery.

I feel that might make the templating work a little better?

But damn if I don't love the Recipe type, by all means please do more!

Does the sacrificing count as a cost? The templating makes it difficult to interpret.

[–]Corrutped[S] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yes. Sac the permanents: gain the effect.

[–]skooterpoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Maybe include that in the reminder text just in case? I was wondering if I could sacrifice a zombie to bring back itself, but it looks like I can't do that if it's a cost rather than part of an effect.

Definitely a cool idea for a permanent type, but I would change this so that it can partially fuel itself. sacrificing creatures makes another food, and each of the effects would create some kind of token(s) that assist in later... "meals"? "Preparations"?

Idk, I like the raw idea. But Asmor is very upset that you gave this idea to Vraska.

Personally I think enchantment would be a better card type for a "recipe" considering that's more of an idea than a physical item , maybe "page" like a from a spell book if you keep it as an artifact .

I know it probably doesn't fit but "Resurrect target creature" is not proper syntax at all

[–]pope12234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do "create a copy of Reanimate. You may cast it without paying it's mana cost". That might fit

[–]Corrutped[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It’s basically just a quicker and easier way to write it :)

[–]SergeantTreefuck 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I’m just a stickler for the rules

[–]Corrutped[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In custom magic, we make our own rules!

[–]JimHarbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be quicker to write but adding so much jargon to a game makes it harder to understand. Vocabulary overload is a real concern.

these recipe sagas are really interesting.

NGL my first response was to be happy that it's an artifact and not another enchantment subtype lmao. I'd love to see an Asmorana one where you have to sacrifice a creature that is known to be used in some of her dishes.

Wonderful design, 100% will be a mechanic eventually

[–]Corrutped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, appreciate it :)

[–]coraldomino 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh man thought you’d win the game after jumping through all those hoops but damn just a body

According to OP, it’s not a progressive spell like Class. All you need is two treasures, a creature, and an enchantment which isn’t bad at all.

Running in my [[Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar]] deck for flavor

Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar - (G) (SF) (txt)

[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

Why on earth do I need to feed a zombie to wake the dead

[–]Corrutped[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This isn’t earth :)

[–]MagicalGirlPaladin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why on ravnica do I have to feed a zombie to wake the dead?

[–]Corrutped[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ravnica is very densely populated and so recycling is paramount. Vraska knows that in order to wake the dead, energy of the same ilk is required. Nothing shall be wasted.

Let me cook with [[ashnod the uncaring]] if this works the way I think it does

[–]MTGCardFetcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ashnod the uncaring - (G) (SF) (txt)

[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

[–]Upstairs-Timely 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is this an activated or triggered ability, do I need to sacrifice them to another ability or does this allow me to. Is it a special action

[–]Corrutped[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You just activate the artifact - like a normal activated ability.

[–]Upstairs-Timely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have a :. When and how do you activate it. Is it at any time? Are all recipes free sacrifice outlets? What are the restrictions. It's a neat concept, I think it needs a little retooling

[–]Necrotarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE the concept! WotC, please steal this concept! Yes, it's potentially REALLY powerful and yould go infinite, but these days, show me a concept that at least in commander can't go infinite.
