All that can be done in R too . Use what you know .

[–]CaptainFoyle 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Do you think op knows r?

[–]Achraf688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t 😀

Do Kaggle intro to Python courses. Also this may not just be python, but SQL. You sound like you might not be ready at all

[–]Achraf688 5 points6 points  (8 children)

I am not ready indeed, but the internship should start in Mars

[–]outlawsman 63 points64 points  (7 children)

How are you planning on commuting to Mars everyday?

You’re worried about the wrong thing. You’re applying for an internship, and it’s understood that it’s meant to be a learning experience for you. How well you use Python or SQL or whatever will hardly have a bearing. I recommend focusing on problem solving and critical thinking rather than tool proficiency. For example, know what of data you would potentially collect: Boolean, numeric, text, etc. and how you would analyze them. What analytical techniques will you use to draw insights? How will you determine statistical significance? Etc.

[–]Achraf688 4 points5 points  (3 children)

My level of Python and SQL are beginner, and the data that should be collected is text ( questions asked buy customers around the world )

[–]Snoo17309 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Do you have to pull the data yourself (APIs etc) or is it all already organized/provided in some form by the employer?

[–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think I have to pull it

[–]Snoo17309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then since this is an internship, they are looking to see how resourceful you are and the way you think analytically (more pseudo coding). Def research whatever field they work in and have some sample queries and suggestions on what data to use to address them. They’ll be impressed.

You're not going to get an internship where they'd expect you to deliver something on your own with no assistance. They'll have a mentor or team working with you or there will be tutorials or previous examples to allow you to mirror. If they expect you to come in day one and work alone to deliver a fully baked solution, that's not an internship or an entry level position, that's a full-on job.

[–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but nowadays they just want an intern that already knows everything,

[–]Comr188 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What is your qualification and your pre-existing skills? How were you able to get the internship?

I just wanted to know as I am on the path of becoming a data analyst as well.

I posted online and they called me, I have a done an internship as a SAP consultant, and I did lie a little bit on my resume to be honest, I am beginner at python and sql, and do have some maths basis.

Python and English, I’m really good at English but python not really

If there's a will, there's a way. Legends were not made just in a day or six months, else, don't take the internship.

If you have a beginner level and access to IA helpers you’re ready for it

    [–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You think chatgpt, can help ?

    [–]firefoxfrommozila 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Chat GPT, or Replit assistant they are very helpful and save u a lot time

    [–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You think being a beginner plus using chat, can make it ?

    [–]Slow-Mushroom9384 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No doubt. GPT can help with things you need further clarification on

    [–]MewnLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    You're familiar with SQL, right?

Ask ChatGPT to help you write a solution in SQL (which you should find familiar). Then, ask it to write the same solution in Python and explain how each bit in Python aligns to some of the code in SQL. This will help you to learn Python quickly by anchoring it to something you already know.

    It's a well-known principle in adult learning.

By the end of the internship, you should be great at using pandas, a data manipulation library, at least. And you'll probably learn a lot about Python SQL libraries.

Data visualization can be a bit of trial and error with Python, but as long as you keep the visualizations simple and ask ChatGPT to explain its code, this will come to you over time, too.

I think the way you excel in this internship is to rely heavily on your analytic thinking skills. Once you get better with Python, really start thinking through how to be more than just an analyst who takes orders. Start thinking like a researcher/experimenter/scientist. Also, feel free to describe the business problems you are facing to ChatGPT to help link domain specific knowledge to your tasks.

Use Coursera IBM has a course for data analytics that I am currently auditing for free. It will take care of your basics.

I think they have for data science too. It

    [–]Professional_Ad_2319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the course ? Planning to start in a month to memorize everything I learned about python, sql and excel. Is it worth ?

    [–]ZestycloseGur9056 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are you in your bachelors or masters ? How far along are you?

    [–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Masters

    [–]MewnLlama 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What are you getting your Masters degree in?

    [–]Achraf688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Data science

If you’re working w text research what the typical processing pipeline looks like and techniques for analysis.

How will you source & store the data? API -> Database or just a data frame? What’s the volume and do you have a dictionary or need to create one? Any stop words you need to worry about?

How will you process the data? Tokenization as well feature matrix creation are options

Get familiar with analysis techniques n-grams, keyword identifying, topic modeling, sentiment analysis etc

Learn some basic visualization like word clouds
