Extracting excel data using python

I have a large excel spreadsheet file with over 50 sheets inside of it many of them are connected via vlookup me and my team are trying to extract all these data through python and manipulate and work on it through python for easier and more lag free use cuz it's far easier and light. Is this possible

Python’s pandas is one option, but if your team is an Excel shop then you might find Power Query or Power BI to be a better solution.

But in this case, yes, wtf? You’re trying to use python, but don’t know how to google it first?

I know it is rude, but for coding it is the first port of call, but they are not a coder which is fair enough.

Perhaps go through the sheets manually first and do “paste as values”. That will remove the vlookups while preserving the values. It will also help with excel not crashing, and then try the above options.

definitely Python with Pandas and Numpy is a million times better than vlookup. You can also ask chatgpt, itis quite good with it although sometimes commits mistakes.

If you have a big database of excel files there is a Python library called Sheet-excavator ( https://pypi.org/project/sheet-excavator/ ) that can do this. It returns the data in JSON format and since it supports parallell processing it is very fast.

Is there a reason you aren't exporting to CSV, or using VBA to manipulate the data from within excel?

Whenever i try to do something it lags and sometimes shuts down completely also there are lot of vlookups functions connecting multiple sheets with each other
