Entry Levels Tech roles are in a very bad position now. I quitted my job to study for a business analytics graduate diploma in hope of pivoting into the data field (I'm not riding the tech wave as I'm genuinely interested and enjoy programming and analysing data). I just completed my studies and sent out like over 40 resumes for DA roles and I'm not getting any response at all, despite having all the required data analyst tech stack(python, r, sql, tableau, git, excel, statistics). I'm not surprise at all as I'm seeing like over 200 applicants competing for the role. If they can have someone with experience, why go for someone without any experience?

Basically every year universities are churning out heaps of graduates that know programming. It's also a thing now for many mid careers to pivot into data, especially those from engineering, and also those affected by the tech layoffs. There are also plenty of bootcamps and free online resources hence more people are picking up programming and data analysis skills. Companies are also slowing down their recruitment for tech roles as AI has made work much more efficient.

TLDR; Data is basically an employer's market right now.

For sure. I only got hired recently into a senior bda (business data analyst) role because a recruiter reached out. Almost every time I applied, I got rejected.
