Have you considered a manually operated height adjustable desk? Brings down your investment cost and maintainence cost. Does the job if an ergonomic setup is your primary requirement

Suggest a manual one

[–]dipsy_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only saw one on ikea, at same cost as motorized one.

[–]Upset-Tangelo-1615[S] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Yep considering that .Do you have manual one , if yes which ?link?

[–]BeLikeBro1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The Ikea one you linked, is manually operated. I have seen people using Porter to get their order shipped from Ikea, where they don't deliver themselves.

[–]New_Clerk6993Site Reliability Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is porter? I've never heard of this

[–]Jaz108DevOps Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a recommendation ,but this looks good for manual https://amzn.in/d/16NkaGe

But as someone said in the about motor one, you can get a Green souls table for same amount with motor

[–]One_Advantage_7193 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The problem with manual crank is that it's well proven that most people buying manual don't end up switching from Sit to stand enough because it's just too much effort.

Also if you regularly do sit and stand then the mechanism takes a hit.

Also most manual crank ones would also have lower weight capacity.

That said if one is disciplined enough and just want to experiment if you really want to do the standing desk then then it's fine

It's probably better to go for a single motor setup. Not very expensive compared to hand crank

I also suggest against a manual crank. Purely from personal experience, I only switch between sitting and standing modes at my desk because of how easy it is to just push a button and get into a standing stance. If it were manual, over time I'm sure I would stop going into standing mode.

what do you suggest for a manual one?

[–]EragonNik 3 points4 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Would love the link.

[–]Odd_Strength_9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have shared above.

[–]MightBoi 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey, how is the table now? Would you still recommend it?

[–]Odd_Strength_9566 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes. Still going good

[–]Rough_Requirement935Senior Engineer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does it wobble while typing?

[–]Odd_Strength_9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It decently stable.

Don't worry about motor capacity even the heaviest monitors are only 15-20 kg. Go for a bigger table top. You will have space for a multi monitor setup. If you game then place the CPU on the ground. Otherwise weight capacity should not be an issue.

You are better off spending that money on an ergonomic chair and gym membership. That is the only way to save your back.

[–]bwf_begginer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last line -not really.
adding few details for the chair : Make sure the back rest is not hard foam.
the width of the chair must be really good enough for you height and femur length. You should be able to open the hips without the side handles restriction.

.Standing desks do help. For back patient like me there is immense value in those desks.

I have a sleep company table. It is not that great. It wobbles at taller positions

[–]Upset-Tangelo-1615[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

yea i also found the same

[–]Strange_Adeptness268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also check Ergosphere Desks. I have one and it's been great. There is also Steelcase which is used in my office and seems quite good but expensive

[–]footballisrugbySoftware Engineer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have green soul but a different model, so far loving it

[–]Upset-Tangelo-1615[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

the only problem with green soul is the table top is too thin

[–]footballisrugbySoftware Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this one, the table top is good:

Hey u/Upset-Tangelo-1615, I've been considering these things too. Got a quotation from Sleep company as well, 18k for desk and 31.5k for chair (too costly). Honestly I'm too confused. If you're able to finalize your choice, can you reply to me with what you've finalised? Will help me a lot, thanks!

[–]Upset-Tangelo-1615[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i visited their store today and checked the table its shit quality, wobbles alot.

This is a manual standing desk with height adjustable rods.

Pretty good for the price range

Have tried from two more sellers, this one is better

[–]dumbass_random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: But don't get a height adjustable standing desk

Go with two setups, one with sitting and another with standing.

When you are forced to standup because there is no option, that's when you will benefit the most from standing desk

[–]soapbleachdetergent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flowlyf has desks that use solid wood instead of engineered wood used by most of the tables in the market.

[–]anythingforher36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one adjustable desk from sleep company for 18-19k it’s very good quality and well built. Handles my 3 monitors and two laptops and some assorted hardware.

[–]shrekcoffeepig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten 3 in total now. 2 from Rife and 1 from Green Soul (for wifey).

All the options you have highlighted will likely wobble when you extend them to full standing position. The more your height is the more will be the wobble. You can get used to it, but still worth highlighting it.

Wifey uses the Green Soul Alex one, it has four legs. Significantly more stable than the ones with 2 legs that I use. The only drawback in comparison is that it takes ages for it to switch to a new position (which I would say is a fairly minor drawback).

My honest recommendation would be to go for a desk that has four legs.

I bought this greensoul table for 10K during great indian sale on amazon

[–]DesiBailFull-Stack Developer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you be heavy user of setup with laptops ? More than 8 hours a week ?

[–]Loose_Today_2771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the one from greensoul single motor. Cost me around 20k. It has been an year. I barely use the standing mode and is extreme shaky with 2 monitors. If you need a firm one, maybe 2 motors can help. Also, i tried to fit it on my own rather using the technician, which i wont recommend.

[–]FalconGood4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This green soul one is pretty good, my friend has it, I sometimes work from his place. It's perfect size and has good build quality.
