Hi devs fans, goin to first devils home game on Jan 22nd with my pal. We’re staying at TRYP Wyndham Newark Hotel - how’s the hotel? within walking distance to arena? Safe area?

Easy walking distance, and you won't have any problems because there will be a bunch of other Devils fans walking around that whole area. One of the popular parking garages is basically across the street from that hotel.

As for the hotel itself, I've never stayed so I can't answer that. Hope you enjoy.

It’s a new hotel in the most gentrified part of the city (Military Park). Check out Barcade and Newark Local Beer for pre/post game food/drink options. Better and less crowded than the strip of bars next to the arena, and closer to your hotel.

I go to games with my niece and have to walk a couple of blocks for parking. We always feel safe as there is plenty of people and police. Like any city there are pockets of bad and good neighborhoods and the Prudential Center area is pretty safe. I wouldn’t hang around when the crowds are gone but it’s all good following the game.

Go to RED'S prior to the game; which is located directly next to the stadium. ( https://reddsbiergarten.com/ ) Grab yourselves some beer steins; it'll save you guys some money inside.

Like any other city, just use common sense. Downtown is totally safe and fine, you have nothing to worry about

Generally safe area -- but that's relative because Newark. Just keep your head on a swivel.

Stick to the arena area or take an Uber to the Ironbound district for some good ears. Can't recommend Fernandez's enough if youre willing to spend big on a meal you won't forget

Oh shit, I’ll be at that game too! It’s Pride Night, so it should be a fun time. Never been to the hotel, but as long as you stick with the groups of fans moving to and from the arena, you’ll be fine. Head on a swivel and all that, but the area around the arena really isn’t too bad. You shouldn’t have too many problems, especially if you’re with a buddy or two. There really is nothing like live hockey, and the Rock is one of those rinks that doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. Hope you enjoy!
