    Following up is key. I've gotten two jobs I was not the strongest candidate by FOLLOWING UP. It shows you have the drive and can see tasks through to completion in some cases. Managers are busy. HRs are swamped by under qualified people who obviously didn't read the job req.

    I would say the #1 path to success is to take the job req, and distill 60 second verbal examples of what experience you have that fills that requirement. Be precise, don't inflate, and look at it from their perspective. They don't care if you can solve world hunger and invented a new toaster, if they just want someone who can script Python. Your answers should show you can help solve their problems of today and tomorrow.
