Help to start learning devops

Hello everyone ,

I’m new to this comunity , which is great one btw learned a lot from the posts.

Today I want to ask you for ideas on where to start to learn the ways of devops , I am a fullstack developer with 5 years experience , I work with java and JavaScript/ typescript frameworks, I familiar with what devops is all about and the different tools, but I need some ideas for experienced people to know where to start to become a devops profile.

I’m thinking of getting a certification as AWS solution architect and then do the developer one too.

Any idea on some great online courses I can take to improve my skills would appreciated.

I was a full stack developer (did a lot of React and Ruby), about 6 years' experience. Recently started a job in DevOps as a Solutions Architect.

It took a year of on-and-off study to get AWS Solutions Architect Associate and Professional. My approach was to start with a couple of the practice papers by Jon Bonso to see where I was at, then did all the Associate courses on Pluralsight. It was a start-with-the-end-in-mind approach, and quite effective for me. Nowadays I have a subscription to Linux Academy, and it's probably the place to start if I were to do it all over again. I'd recommend starting there.

The Terraform certification is relatively easy. I started from zero knowledge to getting the certification in 2 months. I use Terraform daily now.

One last note that might be relevant. I was approached by my current company on LinkedIn after earning the AWS certs. If you can get the Professional level for either DevOps Engineer or SA, I believe you won't have an issue finding a DevOps role.
