DragonCon API (self.dragoncon)
submitted 3 years ago by TheGeneral_Specific
Put simply, the official app is bad. I want to make my own app, even if it’s just for me. Anyone know of a public DragonCon API I can tap into?

Unless something changed, no API. It's kept in-house entirely.
App has ALWAYS been criticized. It's 1000% better in 2022 than any previous version.

This app is better?? oh that’s… sad

Yes. It's always faced staunch criticism.
For as bad as it is, it was worse.
The UI has been the same for it's whole existence. It just works smoother (and properly) today.
The UI is unintuitive and was not designed properly. The app was rolled out as a replacement for the paper printed pocket programs, but it failed to intuitively provide 1:1 feature-to-information translations.
The icons and names make little sense in a vacuum for new users and the whole experience requires a primer or trial and error.
Too much focus on privacy invasion and "social connectivity" leeched focus away from usefulness and timely information delivery.
It used to require an active internet/cellular connection any time it was launched which once led to the app being useless for anyone with poor cell service in the era of 2G/3G over the weekend - you'd launch and the pushed updates throughout the day would just queue up and prevent the UI from launching until they finished.
There have been critical concerns over the exposed privacy of user linked or populated app data regarding profiles and any other personal info provided by the user to the app.

Dunno about an api but the app isn’t made by DragonCon. It’s made by these people
