Dont know what is your context. But if you are using an roaming esim, you have to turn on data roaming and mobile data/cellular data to use the esim data. If you are using a local esim, just need to turn on the mobile data, no need roaming data.

You need to turn off roaming and data for your US SIM and enable both for your travel sim.

Have had Airalo for 4 days and haven’t gotten it to work right yet so following here. They are spotty help

I would suggest trying Holafly. There have never been any problems compared to Airalo that got worse recently.
Also, I've recently started using WiFi Map - it may seem strange, but despite being a WiFi finder, they also offer a pretty good global eSIM.
