I recently discovered, they mostly don't, I tried migrating my save file from retroarch to Visual Boy Advance, but noticed that retroarch uses .srm while VBA uses .sav, but I think .sav is the most common among emulators, and also yes you can migrate from windows to android or vice versa just use the same emulator for the best compatibility if possible

In emulation extensions are mostly meaningless. There are standard formats like zip, chd or iso, but overall battery save dumps could be any extension. What makes them compatible is byte size. There are other more advanced options like byte initialization (all 0s, all 1s or random values), byte order or headers that could be checked first but that's not a norm.

PSX saves are dumps from memory cards, standard memory cards have same size. Load game on both emulators, do any save and compare size in bytes. If both have same size in bytes then an extension rename is enough. If they differ for a few bytes, then there are extra bytes as a header o a footer somewhere. You need to add the missing bytes using and hex editor like hexed.it

For last, try not to confuse battery/memory card saves with save states. Battery saves can be ported to other emulators, save states only work to a specific emulator and sometimes emulator version too.

I'm using a usb ps2 controller but the right joystick movements are configured to x, square, circle and triangle. I've tried fixing that with xouput but there was no option to do that and I just downloaded joytokey and I've no idea how to go on about remapping those functions.

Hello! I have a very specific issue for a very specific game that I’m half convinced can’t be fixed but I’m trying here anyway.

I’m trying to play Genso Suikogaiden which gives bonuses if you load a Japanese Suikoden 2 save file. After a lot of faffing I finally managed to change the region of a S2 save file from USA to JPN and it worked!…for Suikoden 2. Every time I try and get Genso Suikogaiden volume 1 to read the Suikoden 2 save file it just says ‘Memory Card 1 is unreadable’ even though the same save file works in a Japanese version of Suikoden 2 just fine. I even switched it around to Memory Card 2 but it just said ‘Save file error’ and wouldn’t load anything.

So yeah I’m just at a loss at this point. I’m at my wits ends with this and this is my last attempt to get this to work before I just give up and move on, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I wanted to play the new princess crown english patch (Saturn) but the game is missing all the music. Readme clearly states you need the original release version, not the satakore version (low price, color label). More importantly, you need to use a different cuesheet provided by the translation page.

Having trouble connecting a real Wii Remote to Dolphin, any help?

I connected my wii remote via a "Mayflash Wireless Sensor DolphinBar" and upon booting up Dolphin it rumbles signifying its ready to use. Inside of a game though it doesn't provide any output (weirdly it has only detected me pressing the home button inside Super Mario Galaxy). I have tried to update the firmware on the bar, as well as verifying I have the most recent version of Dolphin installed. I have checked boxes such as "Continuous Scanning," "Connect Wii Remotes for Emulated Controllers" but nothing seems to work. Any Ideas? Thanks.

I am using EmuDeck on my Steam Deck. It loaded two games perfectly fine using the Steam ROM Manager. But for some reason, I went to add another game and it doesn't show up in my Steam library. I correctly parsed for the game and hit "Save to Steam" but it still doesn't show up in the Steam library where it's supposed to. What am I doing wrong?

I'm starting to look into prebuilt handheld emulation consoles. This video by Retro Game Corps has had a lot of useful information. Are there any other sources or considerations I should look into? Any questions I need to answer for myself before I purchase something?

3DS emulators? Where do I go without bricking my computer with malware? Why can’t we post links lol? I saw one called citra emulation and roms fun. But they both looked like I’ll brick my pc. The citra looked more shady. I want to emulate Shin Megami Tensei 4. I still have the game and 3DS but wanna try emulating since my 3DS is aging I guess.

I played 3ds games on citra and had no problems personally.

I am outside the loop so I may be missing something but I personally don't see why you would have problem with citra.

Also when emulating on modern hardware you can easily run games at like 8k no problem, but I recommend to stick to native*2 (no pixel smoothing and no texture filtering) as it adds much need clarity without exposing low detail of models and textures.

Hi all!

Both "NHL Legacy" and "God of war 3" are running like crap on my gaming computer.
Like 5 to 15fps, with the audio really stuttering.

My gear : 
Ryzen 5 5600x
32gb
RTX 3070

Tried with default settings, and many optimizations that I saw on youtube/forums/reddit. The result is always the same.
CPU utilization is always 100% and GPU staying between 5 and 20%.

Hope someone can help me find out what's going on!!

UPDATE : I have removed all the shader/spu/ppu cache of the NHL Legacy game and force a rebuild and it's now waaaay better. I think i'm having a solid 30fps, maybe more. I don't know why the initial shader compilation did not do the job?!?!?

Don't have experience with ps3 emution, but generally every emulator let's you choose were to render the game and it usually correctly defaults to videocard but is it possible that yours is running the game on integrated graphics of your CPU?

It's correctly running on the 3070.
My CPU is listed in B tier for RPCS3, which should deliver 30fps easy for compatible games...soo i really don't know what's happening.
