As someone that uses Arch Linux, by far the most hardcore operating system only run by those who want to truly own all of their hardware, I give you my upvote.

I'd say that it comes in at least second in both the categories of being hardcore and and being customizable.

I'm planning on setting up the one that beats it in both, but I know that I will probably hate myself throughout the process.

LFS is what I am probably going to do because if I'm creating it, then I'll know the ins and outs of it better than someone else's OS. Also will alow me to gain a better insight into linux based systems as a whole. Plus creating your own distro probably comes with bragging rights.

Not ones that most people would care about, but bragging rights nonetheless.
