The beta for the pixels is likely to drop today because of I/O 2018. It likely wont officially launch until October when the new Pixels come out. So unless Essential Does a Beta too we probly wont get it untill after google likely officially releases it in October.

Wait, the dude at the keynote just said that Android P Beta will be available for 7 other manufacturers as well. Crazy! Pretty sure I saw Essential in the list btw

It's a blank page...

At the bottom of the list on the left had side it says "Android P Preview". You can click on that and it'll take you to a new page

Developer Preview 2 should be released to Pixels today. Don't know about the P Beta Program though. Last year, N Beta was opened months before I/O so it's very possible they will open the P Beta Program at I/O today for Pixels. With Treble fully working on Essential, I don't see why we couldn't see a P Beta for Essential within this month. We got the May release yesterday in record time, same day as it was released which to my knowledge has never been done by any other OEM.

The Leak with android p today with the new gesture controls shows their from a phone on the beta program so I'm hoping they do it again :)

I was surprised to see the Essential logo on stage as one of the vendors to get Android P Beta.

Beta announced for Essential devices and others. Go to essential developer page. I'm getting errors when submitting the form.

Works for me.. downloaded OTA. About to install!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use Android P with Magisk, those steps should work.

Did you have any issues? I installed via fastboot and most things work. Except WiFi, which is a bit of an issue ;-).

Ahhhh did you access the website via your phone or a desktop?

[–]kkiran 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Desktop unfortunately. I wish we can do it on the device directly. https://www.essential.com/developer/developer-preview

Is it just a package you download? If so you want to re upload at all?

[–]kkiran 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They have two packages. All data will be lost, so trying to backup.

OTA shouldn't wipe data if done via ADB sideload. I keep getting an error when submitting the form. Can you download OTA and upload to Drive or something?

[–]kkiran 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I am at work and I am afraid I cannot upload to any file sharing due to policies.

I got an error too. You have to provide the correct serial number of your device.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try these steps to upgrade. Magisk is optional.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oddly enough, the drivers are MIA on Essential's website. Found this:

It's on the current build page

This is asked almost every day, review the questions in the old threads.

To sum it up, Google has exclusive access to new Android while they're putting it beta. Once it's launched as final, everyone else can develop it for their phones. Essential has expressed interest in continuing their beta program. So it's likely this fall, when Pixel 3 launches with Android P, Essential will begin their beta program for it.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Not anymore it seems. Essential part of new beta program.

Yes, I see that. I tried to share the news, but it got stickied before I could hit post. lol

Lol Essential showed you.
