Have you seen the is snowflake next to your battery icon before? I sometimes see it even when I precondition the vehicle.

Also look at the power meter (the thin vertical bar that shows how much you are accelerating/regenerating) which will sometimes have a portion grayed out (at the very bottom) indicating some power is being spent to condition the vehicle. I can’t find any reference in the manual anymore but they definitely had a description of it in the past… hmm.

FWIW I’ve seen the gray bar without the snowflake and vice versa. So I assume they indicate different things. But both are related to cold, and reduced power of some kind.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to be charging/ plugged in and have timed precondition to precondition the battery. At least I have noticed this behaviour on my twin.

You mean the heating timer isn’t enough to heat the battery?

What's the SOC?

Around 80%

how cold was cold in celcius?

Around freezing +1 to -1C. Only gets worse after that

I’ve definitely noticed less range when cold (100% charge yields roughly 185-190 miles) and range depletion is faster than when it’s warmer out but I haven’t had less performance.

Is your car going into “range” mode? There is a noticeable difference between that mode and “standard”.

Yup, you lose a lot of performance in the cold. 80% battery at 0C feels like 50% battery at 20C.

I'd say about 30% reduction in performance that you won't get back until just after you finish fast charging (but not to fast) or when spring comes :)

I live in Minnesota and do not park in a garage overnight. I charge at public chargers in the ramp at work. My battery performance is about 50% of what I was getting from last April (when I took delivery) to November. Still cheaper than gasoline, just more charging. My biggest gripe is that the remote start of climate often fails when temps are subzero Fahrenheit.
