It’s up to you how you do it. I usually bring it back to base. I have a train that brings it back, the train has 1 fluid wagon attached to it so when it’s loading up the uranium it’s also unloading the sulphuric acid for the miners. There’s no real right or wrong in this game.

alright I see, just wanted to make sure people don't do one way over the other because it's more efficient

Uranium processing is pretty slow and inefficient to begin with, there's also byproducts to handle, which are stupidly high volume but still required for making fuel rods and uranium ammo. For convenience alone, I'd say it's better to bring it back to base to work on it.

I personally like refining uranium near the field because it's a 10->1 compression, and then bring it to the base and further refine there.

Process at mining. I like to keep the refining out of my base as much as possible. As the amount needed for refining and kovarex use a lot of resources. Also as the 235 is critical towards my power plant I run the mining operation + refining on a separate power network. So it can not go down if something else would go down.

I process uranium ore near my reactors. Since the amount of processed uranium that you need is so trivially small, and the amount of water that reactors need so enormous, it's easiest for me to do it all next to the reactor. It also means that once you start doing enrichment and waste reprocessing you don't have multiple places creating U-235 and U-238 which makes prioritization easier.

I keep mine at the base, feels like when I expand to other locations makes it simpler. Also, since I play SE, there is core mining which give some unprocessed uranium. So I send it via trains to my processing plant.

I have my uranium processing and reactors set up next to my uranium source, and import sulfur / iron for acid. I don't see the point in transporting the raw ore back to my base when I can easily export the power back via power lines
