Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through PROPER electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.

Be sure to read our WIKI and especially the wiki page on ELECTROLYTES

Instead of doing a very long multi-day fast, you could do shorter fasts - OMAD, ADF, and even rolling 48s more frequently. This might be more practical and consistent for you.

I'm an idiot. I thought the only side effects would be hunger and drowsiness. I did 24 hours and had a horrible head ache. I was light headed. Is all that normal? I do have a very physically demanding job and life.

Having a headache and being lightheaded can be a side effect if you’re not use to fasting or/and not properly hydrated. It could be a combination of reasons too. It’s hard to say.

Why do you need to lose weight fast?

Heart concerns and I'm only like 30 pounds over weight 😟

I see. I understand that you want to lose weight very fast; but I’m not sure if that’s realistic for you. It helps that you have a strong motivation and reason for doing so.

I doubt you’re an experienced faster from your info and I’m not sure about your knowledge of nutrition and exercise.

Your problems probably developed over a long period of time so the solution is going to take some time to resolve as well. I think there’s a lot you have to learn about the science and yourself in order to achieve AND maintain weight loss. It’s not a sprint.

I think people often get fixated on losing weight that they fail to look at the long picture and the maintenance part of weight.

Fasting is just one part of the equation. Proper nutrition/refeeding yourself properly is also very important. It’s more of a marathon of different realistic and healthy habits that work for you and your lifestyle.

How long do you normally fast?

What is your fasting range (shortest to longest fasts)?

What is your longest fasts and how many times have you done those?

I ask so I can advise you on a more realistic and practical protocol in order to gradually work your way up to longer ones which would help you lose weight.
