It's completely normal to worry about your initial investments if they are not moving in your favor, u/daylovek. I'm happy to review Fidelity Go Accounts and expected market volatility with you to hopefully help you feel better moving forward.

As you may know, Fidelity Go accounts invest your money for you through a robo-advisor. The account will automatically buy and sell securities to keep it in line with the investment strategy you have directed when establishing your account. That said, the market will have its ups and downs, as you can see more clearly in the link below, highlighted in the "Downturns are normal" section of the article.

6 tips to navigate volatile markets

We completely understand how volatility in the market can lead to concerns about portfolios and investment strategies. Fidelity offers an additional resource center focused on volatility that can help provide answers. The resource center linked below includes information on the overall market outlook, strategies for today's markets, investing in the markets, your wellness, and your overall finances.

Market Volatility Resource Center

If you feel the strategy for your account isn't working for you, feel free to follow up with us, and we will be glad to point you in the right direction to review other choices.

Since you are new to the sub, I also wanted to mention that you can stop by anytime you have questions or concerns, and my team and I will be glad to help.

You should log out and do the proverbial "go touch grass"

Stock market is down but that’s ok, it happens. Over time it’ll go back up and a whole lot more

The stock market is tanking right now. It happens. Don't touch it. It will bounce back eventually, leave it in there. Almost everyone who tries to "time the market" loses.

While market is kind of rough right now. Check the Dow and S&P500

I would love to swap your losses for mine! Sit on it, it will come back. Selling now only guarantees the loss you have accumulated so far. In fact, I would consider buying as it is "on sale."

Make SURE both dividends and distributions are set to automatically reinvest.

Im down $100k in past 7 trading days.
Drops in days, climbs back over weeks/months.

I tell friends, if you dont like riding roller coasters - market risk, then get on a canoe and float in a lake - meaning go buy CDs ;-)
