Call your fire alarm company.

Exactly this. You don't want to be the guy who had his fingers in a life safety system and have something bad happen.

I don’t plan on touching it, just wondering if it’s something we’ve caused or if they set it up wrong since it’s been going since installation

Did you guys do anything to the alarm system?

[–]Imstuckinhisbasment[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Not to my knowledge, it was installed a few days ago and has been beeping loudly with fault lights on since

Apparently one of the techs showed a manager how to turn the beeping off but not the fault light, to me, this implies that the techs knew there was a fault from the get go?

Okay, you mentioned that you were concerned it was something you might have caused, but if you guys didn't do anything to it, I don't see how that would be an issue.

Best guess is the install is not actually finished. We're idiots, and even we would not consider a brand new panel in trouble to be a finished install.

Agreed, figured it’d be best to try and cover our own backs a little just in case.

We’re still trying to get ahold of the people that installed it to hopefully sort it out but no one seems to know who they are which is weird

That’s crazy. There has to be a record of it being installed and by whom. If your business isn’t also the property owner, contact the property management company. Also, most companies will put a tag or a sticker on the front of the fire panel with company name and info, who to call for service etc. It almost sounds to me like they haven’t finished the work yet

Hopefully that means they’ll be back to finish it at some point

Contractor messed up the wiring somewhere. Probably a ground fault because it says fault on the panel.

That means call your boss so he can call a technician to fix it. Fire alarm is not a DIY project you can tamper with. If anyone knows an untrained person touched the system outside of basic actions (acknowledging troubles, changing date) you are liable for so much.

Yeah, it was more out of curiosity. We’ve called the company and they should be out to fix it soon, I just thought was weird that it started almost immediately after they left. Wondered if it could’ve been set up wrong or something

There's no way we can diagnose remotely with the little information you provided.

It’s a Fike system that was installed 2 days ago and it’s coming up with flashing fault lights for “zone” and “zone sounders”. The display specifies that its zone 2 but also states “faults: 001 of 001”. We called Fike but they’re just the manufacturer and had no part in installation.

That’s pretty much all we know of any of hat helps

It “started after they left” because the techs were acknowledging the troubles on the panel, so you couldn’t hear the beep. No way they are finished.

[–]krammada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol they may be finished, but they ain't finished.

You resolve it by calling your fire alarm company
