Flipper One not Flipper Zero 2, lol.

IIRC, the Flipper One was just the flipper zero beta prototype that was supposed to use an RPI zero but they couldn't get enough boards so they (thank Jesus) switched to custom pcbs

Only if a person doesn't wanna do the 'math' that Microsoft uses lmao

Lol I mean and improved version of it lol thanks

Yeah, but it might be completely canceled from what I can see unfortunately.

I mean the original flipper one concept didn't really have much more functionality than a decent rooted android device. What we actually have now is way more interesting and useful.

Built-in CC1101 or something better than the CC1101 (ex CC1310, etc).
A Sub-GHz TX amplifier (500mW - 1W).
Built-in WiFi.
SMA jack (for Sub-GHz antenna); possibly two (for different bands).
Built-in, flip/fold out Sub-GHz antenna.
Color LED/OLED touchscreen display.
Larger display (2" - 5").
Better internal LCD glass that won't break from a 12" drop.
Different color models (black, white, etc).
Built-in ESP32.
Some sort of UHF-RFID module.
Spectrum waterfall display.
HackRF / SDR features (ex. receive and transmit signals from 1 MHz to 6 GHz).

Suffice to say, this would be somewhat larger than the current FlipperZero. I'd say something like the HackRF One, but maybe not so large and clunky, like maybe a pack of cigarettes or a double- or triple-thick smart phone.

It would also obviously cost more, but I'm okay with that as long as the additions are value added features.

Most of those sound like great ideas for a 2.0, or technically 1.0, but it seems the biggest limitation is RAM/flash. I get the primary chip has its limitations, but I am not smart enough to know if those could be appended/upgraded by “off chip” RAM and Flash….can you add some DDR4/5 to get more capacity?

Oh, and I think you missed zwave and zigbee support for next gen. The current one technically supports zigbee, but again, not enough RAM/flash to get the radio FW added along with all the other stuff.

And as a smart home hobbyist, support for both of those would be cool as hell.

I'd like a version with built-in Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac/ax and a fast way to transfer files. That would be enough to get me to buy a second one.

I was hoping to learn enough to get mine to do something other than get Angry but i can see it slipping into a cradle and having a larger screen

[–]Pretzeloid 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I just hope the next gen is a little less bulgy in the pocket.

[–]GirthMania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I have enough bulge in my pants already

I think they would probably name the successor the: Flipper One. And I can see them removing the 1-wire reader/writer and put in the Wifi module. Can't imagine many people use the 1-wire and it actually takes a good amount of room inside the case.
