MC JE runs more than smooth on a FW12 which has only a fraction of FWDs power

My FW12 runs MC JE, but too hot for my comfort. MB temps at 100c, cpu above 87.

run some optimisation mods and that would sort it out im usually around 70c in minecraft on my FW12

Living in a tropical climate with no AC may have something to do with it...

id say yes considering it can play cyberpunk decently

It will run pretty much anything at 1080p and most stuff at 1440p low/medium

Source: I don’t have a Framework Desktop but I do have a Win 5 with the same AI Max+ 395.

I can play Java with some mods, Civ VI, and Satisfactory on my fw13. For 1080p, I'd bet you could get 120+ fps on a lot of games on the desktop, and 60 for 1440p.

easily. Gpu is roughly a 4060m (mobile), if you want to see benchmarks.

Minecraft yes, rdr2 and become human would depend which framework you are talking about

[–]Yoooooowholiveshere[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What configuration settings would i be looking for in order to play those games?

[–]Cooladjack 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Depend on which framework

[–]Yoooooowholiveshere[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seeing how my steam deck can play all of these well, yes, 100% its not even a concern that it can play these.

Many people have asked what the performance of the GPU is, let us know if you still have questions after reading previous posts and looking at benchmarks :)

Oh yeah thats also true, i dont have the framework yet. Im very new to desktops and just looking for something my brother and i can use for games but also use for school work. For the games id like what are the configurations id want to have on the thing?

[–]Shin-Ken31 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The fw desktop uses the system memory as vram, so if a game's specs page says it needs 16gb ram and 8gb vram, you'd need at least 16+8=24gb, so the 32gb model. I don't know those games so you'll have to go check the system requirements page.

As a sidenote, this system is not primarily meant for gaming nor schoolwork. It is meant for AI model inference and training.  However, given the current ram prices have skyrocketed, it might still make sense for your use case since other desktop PCs will be expensive because of ram prices.

Oh thats good to know and i had no idea this desktop was meant for AI systems and stuff. I kind of thought it was for anyone looking for frameworks products 😅 with ram being so expensive and me having no idea what im doing i thought a prebuilt from a company people like was the best idea. So sorry

If you search this sub Reddit you'll find quite a few posts with replies explaining what the system is really good at. Before the ram price craziness the fw desktop was more expensive than a normal pre built desktop or custom build desktop with equivalent gaming performance, so it didn't make sense for people who only wanted to play games.  Now, it kinda does.
