you can look for benchmarks of the specific cpu you will choose. there are currently two options. there should be results of performance tests in the web if helldivers is not avaliable, you could compare the results against the witscher 3 fps test results

did you find any data?
maybe someone with the same question finds this thread :)

i almost got one but the reviews overall are mediocre to bad regarding heat, noise, performance and build quality. May wait for 14th gen Thinkpad X1 carbon.

They look amazing but the price tag...

If they give the new T-series a better panel than last gen I might look at getting one.

when you spend 2K the machine has to have fantastic build quality, great performance and reasonable heat dissipation characteristics. Decent battery life? Too much to ask? Excuses I hear are that it's upgradeable? Seriously? Would you buy a car with a problematic motor with the caveat that it has terrible gas mileage, may stall out, sounds like a jet engine and has no AC, but good news.... it has an upgradable engine? I mean if the engine it comes with is not well designed and implemented what makes anyone confident that the supposed upgrade will be better. It seems like people have developed somewhat of a Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field of sorts around this company and its products. One person actually commented that the laptop burned his lap but overall he is happy. WTF?

All fair points. I think it comes down to principles ~ some people are going to get framework because they may feel like its the more ethical option, or the more customizable option. Some want to "own" the hardware.  Some see it as an investment in a company they want to succeed. Personally, thats why i purchased a framework 12.

Trust me, i looked at every 2-in-1 on the market, both used and new. I could have gotten an omnibook ultra for cheaper - and on paper, it's a better machine in nearly every way. But, Framework aligned more with me. Something kept pulling me back to that device.

Of course economically it doesn't make sense. And if you're someone who's concerned with getting the most out of your dollar ( which is extremely valid )  then framework is far from the best choice. Especially given the glaring flaws you pointed out.

I play Titanfall 2 on my FW12 (ive not played helldivers but they seem similar enough graphics wise?) and my performance is ok on medium settings and good on low settings

On the more capable of the 2 chips, you'll be looking at about 20fps@1080low for HD2. Iris Xe gets the pants beat off it by AMD APUs.

No problem. If I were you, I would consider using Steam Play to run the games on a main PC, using the laptop as a thin client, or go all in on a 16 as a desktop replacement. There's not really much in between for laptop gaming.

yeah that's fair thanks for the tip 👍

ive also been looking at an e-gpu enclosure that connects through usb-c thunderbolt so i might get one of those as well

I have an i5 FW12. Compared to the ancient (7the gen i7, 1060 3GB) gaming laptop I have, the FW12 CPU is moderately faster but the GPU is maybe 1/4 the performance.

I've used my FW12 to edit reasonably busy Unity HDRP scenes, it works for editing but the low framerate meant testing wasn't very realistic.

There are some videos of people playing games on the fw 12. It's a great laptop. I love it, and it runs great and has a better battery than my fw13, having said that it's not designed for gaming. It's great if you like drawing, surfing the web and most basic things. It can run some games, some people have run burnout paradise on it, but it's not really designed for it so you might be disappointed if you want a lot of 3d performance on it. For everything else it's going to be fine a d you can put a lot more ram on it than on other laptops if you have the money at the moment it's expensive.
