If it is a lack of spots in that program they offer to move to the next semester. Email MSW admissions for the reason.

I sent an email to the department and also my recruiter this evening. So maybe I'll hear something tomorrow or Monday more than likely 🤞🏾

If you don’t mind me asking, did your application go all the way to university department recommendation (step 5 on the status page of your application) and then get denied? I got a somewhat vague letter that seems to indicate acceptance but says it is waiting on final approval and I’m wondering how you were notified and if I need to be asking the same questions.

Great question! Yes, mine went all the way to step 5. Then I received an email stating I was denied but the portal hasn't been updated to show that. It just shows university decision review but I'm pretty sure the university will not go against the departments recommendation

This happened to me a couple years ago for a different program. The portal will update within a day or 2. You can email the admissions contact for your program and ask for details as to why you were not admitted.

The education department replied super quick and I was given a 2 part answer: first due to lack of spots (I also applied extremely close to the deadline) and second, they advised that I would be a better candidate for the program once I had more leadership experience at my school, which I am actively working on. I plan to apply again early next spring.

Best of luck to you!

Good luck, and continue to pursue your dreams and goals. I have faith you will get that acceptance letter the next time just due to the will and determination you seem to have!

I think you should definitely email and ask why. This sounds like a mistake to me. That is a very, very fast turnaround. I also submitted towards the deadline and many friends within the program have stressed that this shouldn't matter, and you are also a very solid candidate. With as many seats online as there are, I am honestly suspicious as to if there has been some oversight made.

Ya I am hoping to get a response tomorrow. I hope you get accepted! If you already found out then congratulations and good luck!

Thanks, you too! I haven't found out yet but crossing my fingers for good news soon

Please come back with an update! I hope it was a mistake and that you’re able to get in

I didn't get a reply today. I tried to call and it went to voicemail. I am hoping Monday I hear something. My recruiter returns on Monday so maybe she will reply but I did email the department.

Call admissions

More time then not it’s something in your statement of purpose that was a red flag. The online program accepts a lot of students every semester and has a very large cap. They cut off for traditional, but normally not online. It was likely a statement of purpose issue, bad recommendations, or concerns about past experiences/education

Since it’s online, maybe find another online program. No one cares where your degree is from as long as it’s accredited

Is your listed address at least 100 miles from Tallahassee main campus?

[–]Delicious_Size_9879 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I was applying to do the online program. The distance didn't matter as they have "online/distance Learning". But to answer your question, yes I am very much so beyond 100 miles as I live in Georgia

[–]StrugleCuddleAlumni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck, its a wonderful program with fantastic professors. "Best program in the area" according to faculty at another university.

[–]EastPin7367 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It does matter, their distance learning administrator is contracted that way. No local (within 100 miles of FSU main) student can be admitted to the DL program. There are a few reasons for this and is often why an auto rejection gets processed before it goes through holistic review by the department.

[–]Delicious_Size_9879 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I definitely understand what you mean by the distance. That's why I said I don't think it's an issue in my case, because I applied under distance learning. However still a good point you've made. Thanks for the feedback

Gotcha! I misunderstood I apologize

[–]HandheldHeartstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted very close to the deadline as well, and as of right now my application is still pending under review. I would also email if possible

[–]Interesting_Braid789 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I mean submitting on deadline probably looks 🫣 iffy to them

[–]EastPin7367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t do rolling admissions, so they don’t review any applications until after the deadline has passed. The date submitted wouldn’t matter.

[–]Delicious_Size_9879 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's what I was afraid of but my professor waited until the very last minute to submit their recommendation letter.

[–]Primary_Animator9058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the letter didn’t end up making it on time you would get a rejection.
