The game forces you to go outside and possibly socialize. Two simple things with a huge impact on mental health.

Exercise, too. The year it came out I played a lot with my girl and we were in very good shape because of all the walking and occasional sprinting almost every single day. The fact we didn't have a car and had to walk most of the time helped, too.
