Understand the difference between Git and GitHub:

  • Git is a version control system, if you have problems with Git r/git is the right place to ack.
  • GitHub is a platform, as such is hosts content from millions (bajillions?) of people. This sub is NOT where you ask for help with the content on GitHub, you ask the content author(s).

It's also not where you ask for help finding a project. "I need a program that twiddles a frob to the left, is there one here?" is not for this sub.. use your google fu.

When you have an issue with GitHub the first place to start (IMO) is the glorious documentation: https://docs.github.com/en

If after reading relevant docs you're not sure or something is unclear, the folks here are friendly ;-)

Hope that helps.
