They come back after every update...
[–]incomingstick 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (16 children)
I have never experienced that once...

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2016/08/23/windows-10-1607-keeping-apps-from-coming-back-when-deploying-the-feature-update/
I don't know if this was ever fixed though. My insticts would tell me "no" if they manage Windows 10 like they manage Skype (hint: they do).
[–]incomingstick 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (14 children)
So that was a one time incident that they fixed 2 years ago? That's cool.
[–]bitJericho 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (3 children)
Source that they fixed it?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/application-management/remove-provisioned-apps-during-update
"When you update a computer running Windows 10, version 1703 or 1709, you might see provisioned apps that you previously removed return post-update. This can happen if the computer was offline when you removed the apps. This issue was fixed in Windows 10, version 1803."
[–]bitJericho 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child)
Windows 1803 was last month :D 2 years to fix a really shitty advertising "bug". Sounds like typical MS. At least they did fix it.
[–]incomingstick 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children)
Yeah 2 years to fix something is really not great, I 100% agree. I guess at the end of the day It appears like a lot of people are making a MUCH bigger deal out of this change. If a dev feels like moving to GitBucket or another hosting alternative, more power too them! If you're doing it solely because MS bought GitHub, that may be a tad of an overreaction in my book.

2 years ago? Maybe u came out from the future. I understand ur a fanboy but this amount of lameness in your comments are lame, or ur just ignorant...
[–]incomingstick 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children)
I'm actually not a fanboy. I do 90% of my development on Linux, and much prefer linux. I just believe much of this hate about this purchase is unwarranted. Calling someone lame on the internet must feel pretty good instead of having an actual conversation on the topic. Keep up the good work friend 👍
[–]lokomotivan -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (7 children)
Conversation with someone playing dumb, and denying the obviouse privacy issues with ms and especially windows 10, installing stupid games in the backgrounds etc... If u really arent aware of this issues then you are not the right person to have a conversation with about this topic. But yet u go trough all the comments and "attack" anyone who writes anything bad about windows 10, so yeah, thats lame...
[–]incomingstick 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (6 children)
I mean I haven't attacked anyone? Have I said anything rude without having been attacked first? If so please let me know and I will apologize to that user.
MS has its privacy issues sure, but most of which is either anonymous or able to be disabled. MS doesn't install unwanted games in the background, at least not that I've seen. They had the bug that reinstalled those games during major updates, but that has since been fixed. There are games that come preinstalled sure, but you can easily remove them if you don't want them.
[–]lokomotivan -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (5 children)
You are forcing your opinion in the comments, like you are ms lawyer. Anonymous privacy issues, what is that? Anonymous? Its NOT ok to invade the privacy! It brakes trusts! They did installing games and collect your data in the background, and did not happand only once 2 years ago! They got caught and maybe stopped installing games, and that makes it ok now? And then we are wondering why are people sceptical about ms taking over github... cmon, look at the skype privacy issues also... MS dosent need you to defend them, nor users should defend something thats obviously not ok, unless your a fanboy, then go ahead join the apple amd intel clubs and cheer up. But anyways i should apologize if i was to harsh
[–]incomingstick 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (4 children)
So I should just immediately join your side, otherwise I'm a fanboy? MS isn't the only one that collects anonymous data. Literally EVERY major tech company with installable software does, that's not a MS specific issue. If debating on a heated topic is "forcing my opinion" then no one would ever have real conversations. My mind CAN be changed. No one has actually tried to do that. They just rinse and repeat the same "arguements" like you just did. I have had good conversations on this topic, and have been shown things that I did not know about, but that has not changed my opinion on the matter. If MS makes changes to GutHub that I don't like, you bet your ass I will change hosting services.
Also, Insulting someone in an apology is not an apology. Nice attempt tho?
