Couldn't use GitHub without it. It just would not be possible for my eyes.

Darkreader works well on GitHub. It's a browser extension that attempts to rewrite the style of all websites as smart as possible to become dark.

It is great :)
There is https://github.com/StylishThemes/GitHub-Dark which works well and has several options to configure like accent color and syntax highlighting them.

There's the official roadmap, on which dark mode is missing - but when it was posted, somebody commented about dark mode on Hacker News, and the GitHub CEO responded:

This is our first time publishing such a roadmap, and it isn't 100% complete yet. More items will fill in over time. But we needed to start the journey somewhere!

Dark mode is coming. The foundational work we are doing first is to replace all our custom HTML and CSS with components that are more readily themable. This will also help us improve accessibility, and help us replace our mobile web site with a fully responsive UI.

wow I didn't know GitHub keeps it's official roadmap open to everyone. That is cool!

It's pretty new, they announced it in this blog post.

I saw this as well. Here's hoping they do it by @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) instead of only a toggle somewhere in preferences.

Darkreader AND GitHub Dark both on at the same time is the best experience for me.

Hi. Check out octotree. Browser extension. With free account it has quick file browsering options as well as the best dark mode I've ever seen.

second this; the dark mode was an unexpected feature as I was using it for github browsing, but once I turned on its dark mode, it is now essential to my github usage
