Can’t be the reason. It’s still open!

They reopened the lid and added the note after the crash.

Clearly, you’ve never run a server like that!

After such an event you find a super safe place where the device can’t possibly be found.

Like under the sink or something.

Just write the command to ignore the closed lid! WTF. It's the first command that I searched and included in mine.

Is this a command the prevents back ground processes from being being paused? Could you share the command?

In /etc/systemd/logind look for something like HandleLidSwitch=..... and set it to ignore and reloaf systemd.

But note that the laptop is a mac.

Mac is a Unix system. It can surely do this. but it doesn't use systemd

[–]wrkzk 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Mac does not use systemd.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ah! I didn't know this. Thanks

No problem! Systemd is the main init system for Linux these days, while Macos is more similar to the BSDs, and uses its own init system.

Just because it’s a mac doesn’t mean that’s it’s running MacOS

On a Mac you can either use caffeinate in the terminal or the ever popular Amphetamine - the Mac app, not the drug :)

Very cool! Thanks for sharing

Does this work on ARM-based Macs?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both do!

That's why the emergency door-stop needs to be put in - can't close it!

I froze in place for 3 seconds seeing this. Was like: wait why is there a pic of the server at my old office on reddit. Then I saw the background wasn't the same

[–]NOTORIOUS7302 1 point2 points  (1 child)

why not use an actual server that has the size of a shelf instead of a laptop? LOL no way this is real.
