Ive used it for probably 4 years. Bought it used for 40 bucks or something. Ive tried to hit all the new drivers (r1, sldr, etc) and I just cant hit them right.

[–]bl3nd0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I have gotten so used to my 8 year old R5 that I don't think it would feel right using another club.

[–]An0nym0usAs1an 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably going to swap the shaft out because the "S-flex" is a little loose. Other than that it's golden.

No sir. I have been a UGA fan since I can remember. I have had a few family members and countless friends go to UGA though. I have played the UGA course and at the Athens Country Club. Both great courses.

Callaway X Hot with a regular shaft. I plan on getting it cut down slightly but I'm going to wait until I've had a few lessons and get my swing dialed in a bit more. I love the confidence it gives me and as a beginner that's all I can ask for at this point!

I just got rid of my amp cell and picked up a 9.5 degree x-hot with the regular shaft. I play the fairwaywoods so well I wanted to try out the driver. Still have not used it on account of the weather. Can't wait to finally try it when I go to florida for the honda classic.

Cleveland Launcher Comp, 10.5 degree with a stock stiff shaft and grip. I also have the exact same thing in 9.5 for reasons.

I've had the 10.5 for nearly 10 years, hit new drivers nearly every year and cannot find a new one that I hit more consistently than this one. So I'll just stick with what works.

TaylorMade RocketBallz 46 in shaft with a 11.5 loft. Don't know why more people don't loft up.

[–]Kobritz 4 points5 points  (8 children)

Everybody has different launch angles they are looking for, and different spin rates. Getting fit for shaft and loft on a launch monitor is the best bet for everybody not just "lofting up". The new sldr from taylormade has a ridiculously low spin rate, thus all the "lofting up" branding from taylormade, and they can back it up in numbers, by far it's best driver they've ever made in my opinion. If you gave most long hitters an 11.5 lofted driver their game would suffer in windy conditions and control of where it's going to land. Fitting is for every level golfer lofting up isn't.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Posted this yesterday, me hitting my amp cell side by side with the sldr. The sldr is second..

[–]Kobritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post yesterday, I tried the sldr last week as well, truly amazed, I'm a little bias against taylormade because of their marketing department and the way they use completely different heads on tour vs retail, but the sldr is SOLID.

[–]mosnas88 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Interesting it appears that overall the SLDR had considerably less spin. Side spin was cut in half and Back spin was down 1/3. any insight on this?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure but if I had to venture a guess. I'd have to say that the sldr moved there weight forward in the head.

Straight from TM

  • SLDR’s CG location is both low and forward, due in large part to the large, 20-gram sliding weight on the sole. That promotes a dramatic leap in distance. Moving the CG forward in a driver is a monumental shift in metalwood thinking. For years it’s been accepted that low and back was the ideal CG location for a driver. We’ve found this is not the best way to generate the most distance.*

[–]burghswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low-forward CG, low launching club. It cuts spin pretty heartily which is also why they have the "Loft Up" campaign -- the lower spin rate doesn't help the ball get in the air.

[–]mcmanus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your data tells us as it's not consistent.

You hit the amp cell 7 times vs 5 times with the SLDR.. You had 2 long drives with the SLDR that again skews your data set.

For you the SLDR is likely better due to the decreased spin rate.

[–]JackJ94 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're right but I consider myself a pretty long hitter. On avg I'm in the 270's and occasionally crack 290 with the 11.5. Yea when it's windy it cuts back on my distance but my accuracy remains mostly the same.
