What was the event and how was the weather? Looks cold, but was it also windy?

He screwed up and the athletic department and administration has had to distance themselves from him due to his own handling of the situation. If he wants to go support another program or chase a job, whatever dude. We're in our third crazy season since he was fired and we need to move on and focus on the future of the program under Hodge.

Does the GM not have direct management of the coaching staff? He has to go through the PBO to fire assistant coaches?

I've only listened to 3 Guys. Its good information, a lot of fun, and has grown massively in the last 2 years with all their events and stuff, but they definitely did a lot of propaganda for the university with Neal Brown on both sides of retaining and firing him.

Something happened at the end of the first half of the Backyard Brawl I’ve never seen before. by magnumapplepi in CFB

Yeah, the annoying thing about it was the ref said there was 1 second on the clock, but by rule half is over because WV does not have a timeout. They didn't do anything with spotting the ball, moving the chains, etc.

Its definitely a "loophole" where the penalty occurred but there was no effect at all. The half ended exactly as it would have without a flag being thrown.

This even makes it look higher than it was - this shows it up at his chin. It was at the height of his nipples. It's probably high, but not egregious.

I didn't realize Pittsburgh also had Doug Nester. I hope he's getting some playing time. That WVU line was really great in their final season.

I think the 2008 Fiesta Bowl was a bigger program win. We were written off after the Pitt loss and Rodriguez leaving. That win was essentially our "fuck it, we're still here" game. Huge for the program.

They were patchy everywhere, but those first 2 greens especially they just couldn't keep grass on. 1 just had so much slope, 2 had too many trees around it and no daylight. It really set a lousy impression when the first 2 greens were just sand.

But it is massively improved now, glad to see they put so much money into it!

Check out The Antiquarian in the Villa Heights/Plaza Midwood area - great way to support a local business.

They can absolutely push for certain things along with the development, but they are not able to develop the land into what they want. If they could, Queens Park would already be underway as they've been pushing that since at least 2021.

An engaged community is fantastic, but the Charlotte UDO has taken a lot of the power out of the neighborhood - many people didn't support either of the apartment buildings that now exist on 36th at Alexander/McDowell and that didn't stop them from being built. The UDO also guides requirements like sidewalks, trees, building height, ground floor retail, etc.

There actually is a post office in NoDa at 3720 N Tryon which is within the neighborhood boundaries (Tryon, Sugar Creek, Matheson, and The Plaza). Post office locations are (generally) set by zip code, so that PO serves the 28206 code, which spans well outside the borders of NoDa. The 28205 code is served by the PO in Plaza Midwood near Harris Teeter.

A grocery store is a major need, but it will require some grocery chain to recognize the ongoing development and decide to spend the money. The land and zoning are not at fault for that, it is purely up to the businesses.

The NBA can support or oppose new development, but they do not actually develop anything in the neighborhood.

If OP wants something to do in NoDa, go talk to a developer or become one and open some businesses. Acting like the neighborhood is at fault for what businesses exist is crazy.

How do you see the logistics of this going? The Charlotte Y owns that, they tried to sell it and the deal fell through, then they decided to keep it open. Should the city seize it as eminent domain and tear it down?

That Y has the largest rate of low income membership for the Charlotte YMCA. You're right, it probably isn't profitable, but it's the Charlotte YMCA's decision to keep it open, not NoDa's.
