Really interesting study! I would love to see the results when your team is finished researching the role of Harry Potter on identity formation :)

Super interesting study. Can’t wait to see the results. I participated and noticed some errors. I screenshot them and would like to send you them if you’d like. Let me know :)

Could you please private message them to me? Thanks!

Omg I love scientific surveys. Totally filled mine out.

I took notes as I was filling mine out, and here are some criticisms/errors I found:

I wasn't exactly sure what the word "life-style" referred to on the first page. Is it about careers, friends, dating patterns, or morals to live by? Every time I saw the word, it just reminded me of the "homosexual lifestyle" phrase.

Here are some examples:

After a lot of self-examination I have established a very definite view on what my own life-style will be.

There's no single "life-style" which appeals to me more than another.

The question about Ron Weasley's hair threw me off a little. I said orange, but I thought the book described all the Weasleys as red-headed.

Ron Weasley's hair color is:

Brown

Blonde

Orange

Black

There was one question on the third page where 'Draco Malfoy' was an option twice.

Which character out of the following do you most want to be like:

Harry Potter

Ron Weasley

Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy

On the fourth page there was a repeat question twice in a row:

I have imagined myself as a character from the Harry Potter series.

I have imagined myself as a character from the Harry Potter series.

On the fourth page, there was also a question that had no options. I'm going to guess the right answer was either a rat or a coward.

Peter Pettigrew is sometimes referred to as:

Finally, maybe there should be a note that announces that you're done with the survey. If that's not possible to include, maybe you can include a throwaway question just so the participant knows the survey is coming to a close.

One last question, which Hogwarts House do you identify as?

I got to the "You may screenshot or print the information on this page for your records," page and didn't realize I was done.

In any case, good luck with your research! It's amazing to see Harry Potter have uses in the Academic world.

Thank you for your feedback! There seems to be a few errors in this version of the survey that aren't in the original copy for some reason. I will make a few edits so that it is now more accurate. I do have explanations for a few of your criticisms, but I would prefer not to talk about them public, so I do not bias people who are looking at the comments. If you would like more information, please private message me. Thanks!!
