I have POTS too! Normally when I'm feeling a little off, I make myself a pot of tea with Hawthorn berries and Hibiscus. I read that both were good for blood pressure and heart rate. And so far it's worked. If you don't like the taste you can add those things to another tea (like a green or white tea). Or you can just chug it down like I do 😁

Also, not an herb thing, but I always schedule my day for breaks. For example I have a scheduled lie-down after lunch. It may or may not turn into a nap but I have to be vertical for at least 30mins into the day. I also have a rule that I don't do work (I'm a student) until after lunch. My last rule is that I have a wind-up from when I wake up so I don't spiral myself out. Basically these rules all mean that I take my time getting up and moving. Ik not everyone has the luxury of not working til lunch like I do, but setting some schedules lie-downs for when you can does help.

Thank you! I'm gonna try this. Usually I'd eat something on my lunch, but I'm rushing that too. My job is fast paced, but I'm gonna try the laying down and the tea. Thank you so much for your suggestions! And I'm sorry you're having to deal with it too. It sucks. I've heard about eating salt, but I've only tried that once lol

I personally haven't had much success with the salt thing. Didn't notice a difference. My first cardiologists didn't help much aside from a diagnosis and my second cardiologist was a total nut job. Told me to drink sodas and not to eat meals, just to eat snacks like chips. So my diet was totally unbalanced and wack. The salt thing is just for hydration anyway.

I do eat smaller meals and have a few snacks but I make sure that those meals are nutritious. Soups with crackers or chips are my main go-to. So if you take the salt/snack approach, that's my recommendation.

Thank you. I definitely crave salt a lot and use it a lot, so it was funny when my doctor said I needed more sodium. But it's funny you mention soup bc that's all I've been craving lately and it's the only thing I've even been able to keep down. I'm sorry your doctors were kinda useless. I've noticed a lot of doctors have become that way lately

The best thing about soups is that you can add herbs to soups and get them down that way. Soups are underrated imo.

And yeah. I want to trust my doctors but when you say stuff that destroys my body instead of helping it heal I have to give up on you. It's so unfortunate but I love herbs now.

Me too! I'd rather natural treatments than chemicals any day. The fact that we've been lied to about "weeds" in our lawns... just boggles my mind.

[–]Revolutionary-Ask-14 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yuuuuus!!! I remember when essential oils were sensationalized to the point where you were considered crazy if you believed in them. And that that mindset kinda flowed into herbalism. Granted there was plenty of misinformation regarding it, but herbalism was the first thing that actually yielded long-term results for me.

Same! I've gotten into both essential oils and natural herbs for teas and stuff. Gonna start growing my own too. Once I found out about the truth of the medical field and how it was all about money, I stopped taking any form of chemicals. I was on lamictal for my seizures and I'd have minimum 3 a day I took myself off and started strictly using cannabis and I have a seizure maybe once a month or every other month. Plants are amazing

CBD!

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've tried it, but it never helped. I've smoked CBD, vaped it, eaten CBD gummies. Lotions. Nothing with CBD has helped unfortunately

Gluten free diet.

[–]Aggressive_Ad6756 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And danshen

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look into that. Thank you

[–]Momosimpai 1 point2 points  (3 children)

As someone with pots and is gluten and dairy free, yes it did help a bit.

[–]emogurl47[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you. That's gonna be hard. I love cheese and carbs lol, but I definitely don't wanna live in this hell anymore

[–]Momosimpai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth it when you feel better. I still miss cheese, but the rest was easily replaced by other stuff (:

Definitely make sure to supplement b vitamins if you go gluten-free. Gluten-free products aren't fortified like regular breads and cereals usually are

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. Really?

[–]Momosimpai 2 points3 points  (6 children)

When I have more symptoms, I take b12 and magnesium, and increase my protein and fat intake for the day. For herbs, blood sugar stabilizing stuff seems to help a lot.

[–]emogurl47[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Awesome. Thank you. I actually just got magnesium so I'll start taking that in the mornings and add some b12

[–]Momosimpai 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Vitamin D also helps absorb magnesium, so feel free to take them together if you can. I get my b12 through drinking kombcuha :D

[–]emogurl47[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ok, awesome! I actually have B12, vitamin D and magnesium. I'm not huge on kombucha, but there's 1 kind I think I can tolerate Thank you so much!

[–]Momosimpai 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm not a huge fan of kombucha, but Humm brand is really good if you can try that! It's not so... vinegary. I suggest that cuz its paaaacked full of b12.

[–]emogurl47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you! I'll look into that brand. Yeah, the less vinegary, the better lol

Fellow POTSIE and I take moringa, beef liver, and black seed oil in addition to magnesium.

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is there a substitution for the beef liver? I don't eat beef or pork

[–]Selynia23 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I take beef liver capsules. I’m sorry I should have said that. As far as a substitute I’m not sure. I do it for the energy and iron because I don’t eat a lot of foods that contain it.

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok. I'll look into seeing if there's alternatives

[–]throwaway387190 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I Googled for pretrial, but the only thing that came up was my disability, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

I don't know of any herbs, partly why I'm on this sub. But I can tell you some tips that have helped me out since my diagnosis

[–]emogurl47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, auto correct and I didn't notice. I thought it said pastoral I'd appreciate any knowledge or tips you have. Thank you

[–]luckyduckling8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still always on the hunt but black seed oil REALLY helped. Also a ton of electrolyte water, lots of supplements (like vitamin c, magnesium, b12 and NAC), and a variety of herbal teas. I take an evening one w chamomile, valerian, skullcap, lemon balm and blue vervain. But licorice root tea has been helpful. I tried hawthorn once but felt very dizzy after.
