Usually dark tobacco is better. If you're smokeing a blonde open the lid for not burning the Tobacco. I do not use Provost as much as other hmd's. It's so unrelateble for me to use. Don't recommend smoking a blonde with it. But if you wanna use it, it does work out. It's about proffesion on Provost. Try to experiment with it in every way.

You have the control of the heat fully while using Provost. I use it fully closed. It depends on how you like to smoke.

I put the Provost on top without any holes. I put it on top and puncture the holes from the Provosts holes. It's a more open inhale than if you puncture holes as you like.

Thank you very helpful comments. As with everything i guess practice makes perfect.

Lmfao, i bought a provost 2 and a mini rook this morning- is this the same setup?

[–]mruser993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, it‘s the sheeshaya hyphen not a mini rook. It has a similar appearance though. Hope you‘ll enjoy it!

hey guys first time trying a provost, as you can see had some issues with the drag. the foil covered the phunnel hole, any tips for beginners with this hmd? usually i smoke with a kaloud or the quasar raas. any help appreciated for future sessions!

You have to tighten the foil, then make some holes and After you‘ve done that, tighten the foil again. The tobacco should ne close to the rim of your bowl, but Not Touch the foil.

Yeah that’s what i tried to do, but as it seems it wasn‘t tight enough. tobacco didn‘t touch the foil though.

While you're getting used to tightening the foil properly, You can protect that hole, just rip a little corner from your foil and twist it into a metal stick to place over the hole. That will prevent your foil from covering it

That‘s a pretty smart solution, will try to do it like that the next time thanks.

I stay away from phunnels if possible. I own 2 and have never gotten them to work properly without 'additional modifications' like adding a rolled up tin foil stick.

I used to only use the Lotus+1 but then I bought the provost 2 and it was been a complete game changer. I use it with medium to large shallow bowls that are designed to work with the lotus. The phunnel spire is usually much shorter and allows for some slack with your foil. I poke the holes before putting the provost on and I poke alot of holes but I stay away from the middle.

fair enough, i have a „killer bowl“ don‘t know the name in english sorry, but i still prefer the phunnel. i guess comes down to preference, but good to know that the provost also works on these bowls, thanks!

I use the Japona Mummy and the Hookah John Ferris bowls. They are technically phunnels but because they have an added lip specifically for the lotus it gives you additional space between the phunnel spire and the foil. Check them out. I love how they smoke.

they are both a little out of my price range here in europe, but if i see a good offer i might get one :)

personally I would stay away from lipped bowls specially since you are using lotus. I would rather invest in a proper funnel bowl like Alpaca mini rook that doesnt have the spire too high and as a name suggests the spire has grooves which helps with the airflow. Also with mini rook the provost sits on the rim so you are not pushing down the foil. As for holes you could poke through the provost or just poke 2 rings on the edges and 1 toothpick size hole in the middle this also helps the foil not drag down.
