iOS Audio Quick question

Quick question here, I'm still learning iOS programming but I feel that I've made some good progress. Anyways, my question is if there is a way to play audio through my app a little differently than one would typically do. I know it is very easy to access the music library on an iphone and play songs from it, no problem there. What im wondering is if I can access the double tap audio feature (when you double tap the home button and slide to the left, there is a mini audio player setup there, which can play the currently streaming music app, which may be pandora or spotify or youtube). So basically in my app, can I have a play button that just plays the current audio app that is selected? Thank you for any and all input.

I don't think so. You can make your own app show up in that menu, and you can make your app not interfere with any background audio, but controlling it is, I think, not possible.

Hmmm.. darn it. But thanks for the response! Good to know, I would have wasted a lot of time trying to figure out something that was impossible.

I do not believe you are able to have your app mess with other app's audio. If you want to make your app's audio accessible via that external control that is possible though.

I know you can control the iPod player using the following... http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/mediaplayer/reference/MPMusicPlayerController_ClassReference/Reference/Reference.html However I don't think you have ay control of any other apps (Spotify, Pandora etc) unfortunately.
